Ahsoka lowered her lightsabers.
"Obi-Wan?" she said incredulously.
Obi-Wan approached them slowly, and through the thick darkness they could just make out his features, bathed in blue from the glow of his blade.
He faced Ahsoka, pausing a moment to survey her from head to toe, before the smile lines around his eyes creased.
Simultaneously, the two bowed to each other.
"It's good to see you again, Ahsoka, my dear," he smiled.
"Likewise, Master Kenobi," she replied, feeling a surge of affection and nostalgia at seeing her old friend and mentor once more. A hint of guilt lingered as she realised she had never bid Obi-Wan farewell once she walked away from the Order.
The older man then turned to y/n, smiling, and said, "Ah, so there you are. I knew you didn't die under that Temple."
Obi-Wan raised his eyebrows when y/n looked surprised. "Well, I didn't see your starfighter. It's not like Master Windu could have flown them both back to Coruscant."
"But, Master Kenobi, what are you doing here?" y/n asked, holstering his blaster rifle.
"Well, as a matter of fact, I was looking for this child." The Jedi Master crouched down and greeted Juke as the boy finally peeked out from behind Ahsoka's legs. "Hello there."
He lifted his head to look at y/n once more, and their gazes met. The older man's eyes sparkled with humour as he continued, "It seems like you have been rubbing off on Master Windu. Quite mission oriented. He had more important obligations, but he didn't forget about the kidnapping on Giitiing, so he sent me instead. Usually, Windu would be willing to...sacrifice one for the greater benefit."
He rose to his feet and turned to walk back out of the tunnel to the surface, followed by the trio.
"I don't suppose that awful crash before was your doing?" Obi-Wan asked sarcastically over his shoulder as they walked.
"We destroyed a big underground house!" Juke exclaimed, as y/n lifted the boy back onto his shoulders.
"I see the boy isn't the only thing you two rescued," Obi-Wan noted once they had reached the surface. The bright sunlight was warm and inviting compared to the darkness of the tunnels and the utilitarian feel of the Separatist base.
Ahsoka stifled a snort as she realised that Obi-Wan was referring to the holocron, still tucked into y/n's tunic, and making part of his chest bulge outwards.
"You've really taken to this whole parenting thing, huh?" she smirked. "Look at you, n/n, all maternal and stuff."
"Motherhood suits you," Obi-Wan remarked, stroking his beard, as y/n hurriedly pulled the holocron out and hurled it at the older Jedi.
Obi-Wan dodged the artifact easily, then caught it with the Force before it hit the ground. He examined the cube carefully, before addressing Juke. "Do you want to explain to us how you found this object, little one?"
"I found it when me and my friends were playing in the Temple," the boy replied. "I opened it with this!"
He took off his beanie and proudly held it aloft.
