On further inspection Y/n realised that the surroundings did indeed reflect those of the Spike. They were a few metres from a junction, which bore the same designs as the prison on Serenno, with its four-way passages, looming durasteel doors and fluorescent lighting strips.
"I think I still have the schematics of the Spike downloaded on my wrist computer," Y/n said. He slid back the clone armour vambrace covering his forearm to reveal a battered-looking and broken screen.
Ahsoka wrinkled her nose. "Did Anakin try to 'fix' that before we got here?" Y/n gave her a pointed look. After a few seconds, he brought up a hologram of the Spike's layout.
"Don't question the Nokia," he said sagely.
"The...what?"
"Bly and I nicknamed these 'Nokias' after an ARC trooper in our battalion called Nokia. He went on all kinds of suicidal missions and somehow survived the most outlandish scenarios. The guy is basically indestructible."
"Oh, so just another star ARC trooper."
"Pretty much," Y/n said proudly, thinking of the 327th soldier. "Anyways," he resumed. "There's a control room just left of the junction. We should head there first and see if we can find any information on where the kid is."
Ahsoka nodded. "Since we've been discovered, how do you feel about doing a bit more damage on the way?"
He gave her a grin that she returned. "You didn't even have to ask."
But their path to the control room was oddly uncontested. There were no droids, hidden traps, or alarms that found them.
The door to the control room slid open as the two approached. Immediately, the four battle droids that manned the computers started and leapt up.
"We surrender!" One squeaked.
"Don't shoot the messengers!" Another droid raised its hands in capitulation, and the other three followed its example.
Ahsoka extinguished her lightsabers, looking unimpressed. She looked at Y/n, and then back at the droids. "Did you guys miss a programming update or something? Or have droids just become more spineless since I left?"
"Was that a pun?" Y/n whispered, shooting her a sideways glance. "Since, you know, they don't have spines?"
"Well, we have been given orders to pass on a message," one of the machines explained. It took a few awkward sideways steps like a krillcrab towards the nearest computer, its hands still posed in surrender, before pressing a button.
A live voice recording began playing.
"Why is it when something happens, it is always you two?" A silky, feminine voice with a robotic undertone spoke. "Y/n L/ne, and...ex-Padawan Ahsoka Tano."
"No need to remind me that I'm not a Jedi anymore," the Togruta muttered under her breath.
"Is that Hexa Renou?" Y/n asked, narrowing his eyes and tightening his grip on the blaster, which he had held on to as a weapon.
"Which other phony female droid general are you familiar with?" Ahsoka grumbled back.
"Now, now," Hexa Renou said placidly, a smile in her voice. "No need to be so passive aggressive. I'm here to offer you safe passage! But only if you approach the turbolift at the end of this corridor. I'll be waiting for you. Oh, and don't think about anything else. I can easily have you killed. You've been at my mercy so far."
The transmission ended with a soft click.
"I hate not being able to choose my battles, but we don't have much choice, do we?" Y/n said after hearing Hexa Renou's words.
