Chapter Twenty-Two- Not So Fair Trade

Nicole sat in the empty room with her legs pulled to her chest. Staring out the window to the open light streets of, L.A. Lights dancing in the distance, almost reminding her of an ocean. The ocean city that was her home.

A home for now...

Thoughts of Tyler spin their way to web her mind once more. His face before Gisele took him away to the hospital broke her. The only good part to it was that he would be okay if she got him there quick enough. Tyler was a tough guy. Probably one of the few strongest she knew.

He had done so many things, some of them she would never hear, but all she hoped is that he learned from them. From all of this today. That after this he would forget her and be happy, to live his life like he should and look after her best friend.

Gia, Nicole heart wrenched when the face of her ginger headed best friend danced in her mind. Her friend would be a nervous wreck but at least Nicole knew they were safe, they were all going to be safe. Whatever happened to her, if Braga would send her away to that man, it didn't matter. As much as she wanted to believe that Dom and maybe even Brian would find her, that they would somehow rescue her.

Why did apart of her just hope Braga would put her out of her misery? That maybe a bullet would take her and she didn't have to carry around such pain anymore.

The grief of Letty had turned her into a person that her mother wouldn't dare to recognize.

So much of her family gone and all she had....

She had Mia.

Then she still had her father..

Not listening to him is one of the reasons she sat in the hands of the last person she wanted to. Dom had warned her about playing an adult game that she wasn't ready for. Nothing could prepare her for this...nothing.

A knock on the door brings her thoughts back in their safe.

Nicole lifts her head from the window.

Gisele walks in with bags in her hand.

Nicole goes more on alert, dropping a leg from from the sill.

"It's just me." Gisele closes the door behind her, turning on the small lamp that lit the room in a dim hue. Nicole opens her mouth. "He should be okay." Snapping her lips shut, Nicole's gaze tilts to the floor. "I got him there before any more damage. Doctors said he should be good."

"Good." Nicole lets the relief wash her, she nods and notices the bag in Gisele hand. "What is that?"

"I guessed your sizes. I don't think I'm off but we will see." Gisele sits the bag on the small twin bed inside. "Thought you could use some fresh clothes so you can take a shower." Nicole eyes travel to the door. "None of them are allowed to come back here. Just me or Braga."

"Doesn't mean one of them won't." Fooled her once they did but Nicole wasn't about to take any chances with anyone, not anymore. Nicole sets her eyes back to Gisele. "Why did you buy me clothes in the first place? I didn't ask you to."

"You wanna hang around half these guys in half a shirt?" Her brow raised. "Also I can assume that you aren't fond of dirt."

Nicole scoffs but Gisele had a convincing argument. "You have a point." She breathes. "Still, I don't trust anyone here. Not even you."

Gisele couldn't blame her but a bit of her felt proud. "I guess your learning from mistakes."

Nicole glares. "Don't talk as if you know me."
