Chapter Thirty Six

"Come on, three more steps." Dom holds out his arms.

"She's stumbling." Leon points.

Letty was quick to whack his arm into shutting up.

Dom chuckles but kept his eyes on his little girl finally making her steps to him. A grin from ear to ear as he watched her little legs tremble forward but she didn't stop.

"One more," Dom catches her when she makes the last stop right into his arms. "You did it!" He holds her up with a laugh. Paccifier dropping, her giggles echoed from being in the air. "That's my girl,"

"Pay up," Jesse nudges Leon to his eye roll.

Looking back to her, Dom smiles. "Never give up attitude, just like a Toretto." Nicole shakes the cross chain around his neck. "That's right." Giggling, Nicole smiles up to him, giving his chain a shake. "And I'm always going to be there to catch you," A little sound from her got his chuckle. "Always..."

End flashback....

Tears streaming down her cheeks as nothing but the memories of her father flooded in her mind. To finally see him again, standing feet away from her. So close but she knew better than to go far. The beating in her chest started to over run her thoughts, leaving her no room to process anything.

Nicole foot retreats back.

Dom took sight of this, his pleading eyes going back to his daughter.

"Don't," Dom shakes his head slow. Nicole bolts to the left, heading straight for the side markets. "Nicole!"

Dom took off after her as Brian went the opposite to hopefully cut her off, wherever she was running to.

Ducking and dodging people. Nicole could feel her father right on her trail and she knew better to slow down or to stop. Her father was fast and if he caught her before, she knew he could do it again.

Hitting the corner, Nicole used a selling stand on wheels and pushed it in her fathers way, trying to create as much distance. Loosing him for a second she was able to switch directions so that he wouldn't know which path to follow.

Getting into the back alleys, a shot echoed close to her, causing her to jump back with a yelp.

"Nicole!"

With deep breaths, Nicole finally stops. She knew that voice, a voice she spent some of her time hating for a while. Never did she think her heart would leap in joy to finally hear it again.

Turning around, she went face to face with Brian.

"I'm sorry," Brian puts his gun away. "It was the only way I could get you to stop."

Hair fallen in her face, Nicole breathes heavily as she stares back at him in disbelief.

Brian couldn't believe the person he was staring at had been that little girl he once knew. The adorable kid, she was growing up....but in the wrong ways. All from his stupid mistakes. The first child he looked to as family suffered so much because he couldn't make the right calls.
