Chapter Twenty Eight
Han walks inside the hidden warehouse in Brazil.
Everyone stood around, still trying to process their thoughts of the news and what this meant for their job they were trying to pull against Reyes.
"You guys seen Dom?"
Tej shakes his head. "Nah, not since earlier. I would want to be alone after getting news like that."
"I shouldn't have said anything yet," Gisele says. "I thought he knew she didn't make it. It's my fault."
"No, it's not." Han has a seat on the steps. "The only person who deserves blame is the one that killed her, not the other way around."
Brian rejoins everyone but the weight of his emotions still written over his face.
Roman rests his hand on Brian's shoulder. "You good man?"
"No." Brian said truthfully. "It's all my fault, it is." Roman shakes his head, about to speak. "I'm not just saying that. I was the one who started all of this. Braga wouldn't have even known about Nicole if I didn't send Letty his way."
"You don't know that." Gisele speaks up.
"Why did he do it?" Brain asks. "He could have left her alive, he could have-" He smacks a few tools off the cart, holding the back of his head with a pace. "We should have made him talk and just found out where she went."
"He would have just lied." Gisele said. "Nicole was dead the minute Braga sent her off,"
Tej gets Brian to have a seat next to Han, to calm him down.
They were all feeling the weight of Nicole's death on them.
"What was she like?" Roman found himself asking. "Did you meet her?"
"Yeah," Han nods, he smiles remembering the smile of the same eight year old girl in Mexico "She was a lively little kid and could hit hard."
Tego and Rico nods with chuckles.
"We only seen the picture, Dom, showed us." Tego smiles. "I could tell she had his attitude."
Gisele found herself smiling in agreement.
Brian lips lift with a slow nod. "Nah, it was both of them that I saw. She can be rude but once she cared and considered you family, that's what you were to her and she would always look out for you." His heart ached just thinking of her. "We didn't end on good terms but to me she was, and still is my niece. I'm just hurt that I'll never get to fix the bond we did have." He runs a hand down his face with a sigh. "Tej, Roman...you guys would have loved her as much as we did. I'm more worried about Dom though."
"Losing your wife and your kid," Roman looks down. "Its hard to come back from that. We were supposed to take this money and look for her. Now what?"
"I don't know," Brian says low.
