Chapter Seventy-Nine

Gia pouts at her book, her pen tapping the notebook in annoyance.

Eric walked in with a few bags. "Got what you asked."

"Thank you can put it over there." Gia sighs, flipping a page.

Eric brow raised as he sits them down. "You alright over there?"

"Why has no one petitioned to have math as like a side subject. For the people that want to do it? I'm not gonna need half this crap when I'm forty, I'll barely remember it." Gia throws up her hands. "If I don't get this I am screwed."

"Let me take a look,"

"You know a lot about math?" Gia head tilts.

"Passed with flying colors." Eric nods, he smiles. "My mom was a real nerd for math and science. So I had no choice but to learn it." He sits on the opposite side of the counter. "Oh this stuff is easy."

"To you, Eric." Gia adds in.

"You can do it, look." Eric puts her paper down in front of her. "Your just looking at these wrong. A method I learned is to replace math with what you love."

"That works?"

"Adding candy for me was more better. Also when it comes to fractions and pizza, I know how to divide it equally."

Gia laughs. "That so?"

"Yup," Eric nods. "I don't mind tutoring you while I'm here, when's your test?"

"In a week." Gia sighs.

"That's enough time." Eric waves it off. "Give me a few days and you'll understand this just fine."

"Well how much should I pay you-"

"You don't have to pay me anything," Eric flips the papers with a chuckle. "Just get a passing grade for us. Show me I'm not a bad teacher."

Gia giggles. "Okay. Okay deal," she nods. "You want anything to eat before I stress you out with trying to teach?"

"Just a regular sandwich will do," Eric waves it off.

"Turkey?"

"Yeah that works." Eric nods. "I feel like they update math every chance they get. Always expands."

"Tell me about it." Gia scoffs. "When they added in letters I knew I was screwed."

Eric laughs. "The letters involved are actually pretty easy."

"Says the one who passed with flying colors."

"Alright fair point." He nods.
Gia sat the plate of food in front of him. "You just need someone to sit down and explain it to you. Walk it out with you, and you'll see. It's easy." He looks up. "I promise."
