Chapter Forty-Five

L.A. California

Nicole closes the car door behind her as she looked up at the house. It definitely needed a lawn cut, some new paint, and touch ups—but her friends did well with keeping it in tact.

The memories of being in the house, playing on the lawn it all seemed to flow back into her mind with no problems.

All the people that used to fill the lawn at night during her parents parties. Her eyes go to the driveway. It used to have the cars of her old family but tomorrow it would be filled with the cars of the new one.

That's the thing she learned about families. Old faces go, and new ones come along, but you never forget any of them.

Looking to her side she noticed her mother staring up at the place.

Nicole motions to a certain spot in the driveway as she approached her.

"You know, you told me, that you met grandma right in this spot."

"I did?" Letty looks over at her.

"Yeah," Nicole smiles from the memory. "Told me the first thing she told you about dad was wishing you good luck."

"She must've known Toretto men then."

"I would say so," Nicole eyes flicker to her. "You know it's okay not to remember."

"Feels weird that I don't. Look at this place," Letty motions around the house. "All of this and I got nothing."

"Time, remember. We all need it." Nicole nods. "Want to come with me to the garage?"

Letty's hand rests on her back. "No you go ahead. I'm going to look around some more."

"Okay," Nicole leaves her.

Walking inside the garage, it was all still there.

The whole place needed some dusting but it was just how her dad had left it the day he went to come get her from Braga.

Last time she stood in this garage, she yelled at Dom for leaving them, for leaving Letty. It amazed her how a few days, could change the rest of her years as she knew it. All of it felt like it happened yesterday, but here they were years later, trying to put things back together.

As she wandered over to the board filled with pictures, she stops. Photos of her grandfather and young photos of her father. Another photo with her grandfather made her smile. She took the pin out of it and brushed off the dust for a better look.
