Chapter Eighty-Three
Nicole sat on the floor—her straight hair in a high pony tail as she sorted through papers.
"Here you go, Nicole." Talia walks in the living room with a box. "Elena sent it over."
"Another one?" Nicole brows pull. "I hope it's not more clothes."
"Your kid is never going to need clothes that's for sure."
Chuckling, Nicole uses the couch to stand but Talia was quick to run over and help her up.
"I'm alright,"
"You sure?"
"I got to get used to it at some point."
Nicole sighs, pulling her shirt down over the bump that shown. It had been eight months since the day she arrived in the small place that became her home.
Elena had bought over Talia the next day. At first Nicole didn't say much to the girl, even though they are the same age, Nicole wasn't trustworthy of anyone around her. Even though she softened up she still didn't trust anyone who wasn't her family or Elena at the moment.
Aside from the back pains she was pretty okay and made sure to exercise to help keep herself motivated and healthy. It was a recommendation from the doctor, and it had grown to be some help to her. The doctor and Elena had been her saving grace through a few scares she had. Her doctor was on call and always willing to answer any questions for her. It made her feel a bit better knowing that the older woman would be helping her when her nine months were finally up.
It was a bit strange to her how her stomach didn't grow as big as she thought it would. A thing explained to her be normal for a girl her size. The doctor tried to tell a joke about twins and Nicole laughed uneasy, the thought of that would send her full steam off a bridge without a car. Carrying one child was enough work, she wasn't ready to try and raise two.
Nicole opened the box and pulled out a cute plush blanket. One side a navy blue and the other side black, stitched on the front, 'Mom & Dads Best Gift'.
A slight smile, she holds it to her chest. Elena had asked her a few weeks ago what was her and Tyler's favorite colors, and she couldn't wrack her brain as to why, but the blanket now confirmed it. His name still bought an ache to her chest. The nightmares weren't as frequent, at times she dreamed about him, but they felt like a nightmare when she woke up and saw he wasn't really there with her.
Even in eight months, she still cried, and the hormones didn't make it any better for her.
"Oh, it's so pretty!" Talia stops from taking out things for her.
