Chapter Eighty-Two

It took two weeks for her to finally drag herself out of the house and away from Mexico. Being there alone was too much and she needed to see a doctor to check on herself.

The drive back to L.A. had been long. Often times she tried to imagine Tyler with her but it only made things worse.

Apart of her wishes she moved faster but her body wouldn't let her, she had no idea where she was going or what she was even doing anymore. Not only was she alone but she never felt more lost.

Eight months from now she would be someone's mother and she wasn't prepared for any of it. How could she ever bring herself to explain why they wouldn't be able to see their father? Even when Letty told her about Dom leaving, the pain of that still hurt and Dom wasn't dead back then. She couldn't imagine the pain a child would carry with having to grow up knowing their father was killed before even getting to see or know them.

More reality kicked in as she thought about it.

When she did have the child, no one would be there with her. Tyler wouldn't be able to hold them, or see their face. One of the best things that they ever created together and he would never be able to see.

Nicole closed the car door as she got out of the charger.

Hair no longer in her natural curls as she wore it in messy curls parted to the side. A black tank with a black leather jacket over top and pair of denim blue jeans and black boots.

Every step feeling more heavy than the last.

Looking up at what was left of the house from the explosion. It had all been closed off as people were still working around it. Investigators and more swarmed around what used to be her home. She wanted to hear what people were ruling this as but her going right up to them wouldn't end so well.

Seeing a couple down the street watching it.

Nicole backs up and walks down to them. "Excuse me?" Their attention travels to her. "Do either of you know what happened here?"

"Oh yeah," The older woman says. "Crazy thing two weeks ago, all over the news. An explosion, heard they are saying it came from the stove. Only one death reported, the rest of the family weren't home. It may be sad to say but thank goodness," Nicole eyes lower, flickering to the house. "It would have been horrible if more people died."

"Thank you," Nicole gives her the best smile she could as she backs away back to the car.

One death reported, which means it really was Tyler that died in that house. Why did so much of her pray differently? She knew it wasn't a slight chance of it being different, yet she tried that glimpse of hope. Only to be more heart broken when she heard the truth.

Tyler was gone and she couldn't get him back.

Nicole noticed a DSS jacket worn by one of the men there.
