Chapter Twenty Four

Fiddling with the purse in her hand. Nicole takes her eyes to the passing view of Mexico through the window. They had been driving for a while now but she didn't question anything.

All her mind could think about is, Letty. If her mother was still out there and really had no memory. How would she even begin to tell her who she was? Would this version of her mother even believe her for just popping up and claiming to be her daughter.

Maybe, Letty, wasn't really there. It could have all been a trick from the very beginning to get her to leave. Braga had made it clear that Shaw's main entrance was getting someone like her. A part of her wondered if killing Letty was to really get her out of the way, and had nothing to do with Braga's cartel.

The wheels in her head wouldn't stop spinning. One thing that she knew for sure, all her answers lied in Shaw, and there wasn't any room to turn back from this now. If Letty wasn't there then she would fight to escape, but if that miracle she prayed for came true, if this was true, she would get her out of there. Somehow, she would do it.

Dom....

Nicole eyes fall. Her father was going to come for her, but she would be gone...

Closing her eyes, Nicole prayed for him and Brian. If her father was coming than that meant Brian would too. She prayed that her father would still take care of himself and not cause trouble without her around. That he wouldn't let grief get to him. Once he knew she was gone, Dom would look for her and knowing her father, he would find her no matter what. He wouldn't give up on her, even when she begged him to, he never did.

Despite his screw ups he was her father and she would always love him. Apart of her wished they had time to rebuild what was lost but it seemed fate wouldn't give them that.

Using the back of her hand, she wipes the stained tears off her cheek. All she wanted to tell him is that she 'loved him' before she left.

Responsible for a lot of the crazy in her life, but she couldn't see any of it without her father around..

Flashback, a few days ago...

"Mia should be here to get you in a bit." Dom walks out into the shack. "Nicole?"

He saw her, sitting on the steps with Letty's picture in hand, her head buried inside her knees.

Dom walks over as she lifts her head up.

"I'm sorry," Nicole wipes her eyes.

He stoops down with a sad gaze. "Don't be sorry for that."

"I feel like I cry every day now." Nicole scoffs, her smile quivering as it drops back down, she shakes her head—ready to bury her face back in her hands.

Dom stops her before she could and pulls her into a hug. Nicole cries in his shoulder, balling the picture of her mother in her fist.

"I miss her,"

"I do to." Dom felt the tears in his eyes but held them back for her. "I remember the time your mother thought you hated her when you were a baby." He smiles through his pain. "You said my name first and crawled to me first...she called you a little traitor for that." Nicole giggles. Dom eyes glance to the celing with a slight sigh, he rubs her back and rest his head against hers. "Every day I think if I would have stayed with her, if we would be here—if it would have changed anything."

"Maybe." Nicole mumbles, she sniffles and shakes her head. "Maybe not. Don't carry that pain with you. I watched her carry enough....don't do the same."
