Chapter Fourteen- Race Night

Dom pulls up to the crash  site with Mia in his red 1970 Red Chevrolet nChevelle SS.

Turning the car off, he got out of the car and walked ahead; eyeing the road. He changed into his short sleeved blue buttoned up collared shirt over his tank top.

Stopping; he looks down the dark road, as his eyes fell to the street where burnout tire marks and scratches decorated it from the damage of the crash. Images played in his mind of how it looked from the burn marks. The way it looked, he could see somebody flipped Letty's Plymouth and it rolled down the road, but what happened from there could still be a mystery.

Dom bends down above the tire marks and something catches his eyes. He dips his finger in residue left from one of the cars, and rubs it against his thumb. Dom knew all too well about what it was and he knew the only person that sells it.

Mia watches her brother as she leaned against the front of the car. If she knew him like she knew she did, Dom was trying to find out who took Letty from them. Apart of her wanted him to but another part of her didn't. She already lost Letty and because of it she was slowly losing her niece. The only person that Nicole needed more than Letty is Dom, and Dom needed his daughter to remind him who he was.

Dom stands up and looks back down the streetlight lit dark roads, as the scene of the crash replayed through his mind. He could see the two cars coming at a fast speed, and the one chasing Letty flipped her car down the road.

How he saw it, Letty could have survived the crash but the car had to have blown up with her in it, or the person just shot her and the car blew up afterwards. All Dom could see in his mind was Letty falling out of the crashed car, trying to get out but the person finished the job they started. Anger started to build in him as his fist mouth tightened into a deep frown, and it only deepened with the more he thought about it.

Somebody killed her and he wasn't going to stop until he found out who...

Later that night....

Dom drove a couple of blocks down the road from where the old house. He wanted to drop Mia off but he couldn't get to close with the cops trying to track him down with every move he made.

Pulling the car up by a street, Dom brought it to a stop.

Mia had kept quiet the entire ride and decided to finally speak up.

"You found something back there." She says.

Dom wanted to keep it to himself but he knew he couldn't keep something like this from Mia of all people.

"There were burn marks on the ground." Mia's eyes widened. "The kind that could only be caused by nitrometh." Dom slowly shakes his head. "There's only one guy in all of L.A. that sells that. It just doesn't make any sense...I have to figure all of this out."

Mia gives him a sad look. "...You know, Nicole shouldn't have said most of what she did to you but she was right about one thing. Nothing that you do is gonna bring Letty back, Dom. Nicole doesn't want you to do this. If I were Letty, I would ask you--no I would beg you...." Mia slowly shakes her head. "Let this go, please, before it's too late."

Dom looks over at his sister who battled him with her pleading gaze but there was nothing but pain and sadness in his own.

"It's already too late." Dom says lowly.

Mia looks away with a head shake as she knew it wasn't anyway to talk him out of this. "What about Nicole, Dom? Is it too late for her?" His eyes flicker as they stray back ahead. "That child lost her mother and I know you know how it feels to lose a parent. Nicole is the one that needs you right now, she needs that father who promised he would always be there for her. I know she is mad at you but she loves you, Dom. And she's right, you can't protect her like this, not forever....."
