Chapter Forty Four

Nicole walked around the base. The sunrise coming over the warm Spain setting.

To know they were minutes away from leaving to go home. When Dom told her what happened to Owen, a part of her had mixed feelings about the entire incident. He wasn't dead but was injured very bad and his life was now a coin toss.

Even after all the hell, she still wanted him to live. Though he didn't show much love for his family, Nicole knew he had people that cared about him. The thoughts of Deckard came to her mind a few times. What would he say about this? And would she ever get to see him again?

Unlike Owen, Deckard cared for his family. And that's what terrified her. Deckard was just like Dom when it came to his family being hurt. Revenge first, questions later. She prayed for it to never happen and if she could find a way to tell him she would.

Deckard may even hate her when he found out what happened to Owen....

Why did that sadden her more than Owen being hurt?

Owen being hurt she could learn to get over but Deckard hating her, she didn't ever want to live with it. Not ever.

Spotting Han on sitting outside of the base by himself—Nicole walks over to him.

When they got back, Mia and Brian had told them all what happened to Gisele.

They wanted to give him his time before they all left to go back to L.A. The family was going to be staying a few days for the funeral and to spend some time with everyone before they all went on their separate ways. Jack and Gia were already on their way to L.A. with Elena and would meet them there.

Nicole still waited for Hobbs to get clearance so she could see Tyler and Xander. Hobbs was trying to work things out but it was only so much pull he did have on him.

Washed with cent of citrus, Nicole's curls finally sat back in their natural state.
It felt good to wear her wild curls, parted to the side again.

Wearing a black t-shirt, ripped denim skinny jeans and black Timberland boots. The cross chain hung in between her cleavage with the charm bracelet worn on her wrist.

Nicole took a seat next to Han on the bench;Indian  style.

".....I would ask you if you were alright," Nicole looks at the sunrise view. "But even I know better than to do that."
Han keeps his gaze ahead. ".....I'm so sorry, Han."

"It's not your fault."

"You both came here to help my dad, to help me." Nicole reminds him. "I share some of that blame. She wouldn't have been here if not for us."

"That's what people do for the ones they love," Han says. "Risk everything. She risked it for me to.....I should have gotten to her quicker."

"You couldn't have done anything different," Nicole shakes her head. "A sad thing I had to learn about death. You don't ask for it, it just comes."
