I'm sitting in the jungle just waiting for the damn pills to kick in. Why do these cramps hurt so bad? I know I've been through far more painful things but it's just so consistent and amplifies when I move. It comes in waves but never dies down completely.

I shift the position I'm sitting in and I'm hit with another wave of pain at that same moment I hear what sounds like metal scraping against metal followed by what a turbine would sound like as it's coming to a stop. Loki is immediately up and on the defensive at the noise as a horn like sound blares through the forest around us.

I painfully stand up knowing precisely what that noise is though I'm not quite sure how to fight it. The show was always very vague when it came to the rules with the thing. I know the smoke monster can't go over water, cross a circle of ashes, or get past the pylons but that's about all I know about fighting it. As the horn sounds a second time Loki looks at me unsure of what to do.

"What the Hel is that?!"

I'm not entirely sure how to explain especially when we need to high tail it out of here.

"I'll explain later we need to run!"

From the sounds of it our yelling has caught it's attention because I hear the sound shift to a clicking noise and get closer. The percussion and trombone section of the orchestra in the score have also picked up the intensity of the music in the soundtrack at this point. We both take off luckily adrenaline has completely kicked in and my pain is forgotten as we run off at full speed.

We run for I'm not even sure how long at one point I look back and can see it right on our tails Loki tries some magic on it but it doesn't really seem to do all that much. We run until we reach some very familiar rocks then I see it we've reached the ocean and out on the water is Desmond's sail boat.

"We just have to get to the boat the smoke can't cross the water!"

Loki gives me a look of confusion but he doesn't hesitate when he sees I've pulled out my sling ring. In a matter of seconds we are safe in Desmond's boat. The thing seems to stare at us for a minute before giving up and making a U turn into the jungle. We rest for a few minutes catching our breath I'm not even sure how far we just ran. Now that I'm safe the adrenaline has worn off and I realize the pain's now been subdued by the medication. I just need to change.

"Darling I'd very much love to hear an explanation as to just what that thing was."

How to explain it?

"Well it's never completely explained in the show not exactly I mean. I just know it can kill you if it gets ahold of you unless you're a candidate but we won't get into all that ridiculousness. ...I really don't envy you it's hard for me to understand what's going on as a fan of the show but it's probably driving you insane trying to keep up with all this because you've never even seen a second of the show before."

He nods.

"I'm just glad one of us knows something of our situation."

I look around and find a hatch that leads down into a bedroom I know is in the boat from a brief scene in the show and open it.

"I'll be back in a minute."

"Where are you going? Are you still not feeling well?"

I smile slightly at him worrying over me.

"I'm actually doing better now I just need the bathroom and I'm hoping there's one down here."

He nods at my explanation and I begin looking around thankfully finding a small bathroom. When I return from changing I assess the situation with the boat Loki's pulled the anchor up but I don't think either of us know how to sail this thing. I have a brief thought of using the sling rings to get right to the cages since I am familiar with them from watching the show but I know Lo' would've thought of that already. I can only assume he hasn't mentioned it because we would end up at the location in Hawaii the series was filmed in if we tried that. I have another idea.

"Do you think there's a way to get this boat moving in the direction of the hostages with magic or something?"

"Quite easily my dear."

He exerts a bit of magic and we begin gently moving. We have a bit of down time to wait and I really hope Mojo doesn't decide it's too boring. Since I have no control over what he decides to do with us I find myself battling my anxiety as we sail. I'm sat down on the deck trying not to let it get to me when Lo' takes a seat a step above me on a raised area of the ship's deck.

He seems to have somehow sensed my anxiety even though I haven't said a word about it. His hand comes down and rests against my cheek and I'm almost subconsciously inclined to lean into his touch. When I do he scooches down and I find myself moving so my head in his lap he gently runs his fingers through my hair as he's done so many times before. It's always somehow calmed me down when he does stuff like this.

Receiving positive 'human' contact after so many years of being deprived of it has made the feeling of gentle touch pure bliss. Without an exchange of words he's communicating three things I really needed to 'hear' at the moment, 'You're safe, I love you, and everything is going to be ok.'
