—-Peter—-

Logan and I are just finishing up with the guys in the third floor. The actress has pressed herself into the corner of the room trying to stay out of the way of the fight. One of the remaining guys grabs her and takes her over to one of the windows hanging her out of it so the only thing keeping her balance is him holding onto her.

"Stop! I'll drop her! I'm warning you!"

Logan rolls his eyes and continues to fight knowing catching her will be no problem for me. The man drops Miss Watson. I quickly fire my web shooter and swing out the window catching her not even breaking a sweat. Logan takes him out then continues fighting and I swing myself and the actress to the ground setting her safely on her feet.

I stop dead in my tracks getting my first good look at her in the light of a street lamp. She's absolutely beautiful! I was going to say something like 'everything's ok now ma'am' or 'you're safe now' but I find myself awestruck. After dusting herself off she giggles taking in my expression.

"Face it, tiger... you just hit the jackpot."

She winks at me and this does not help my ability to speak. I finally do manage to get out a few words completely embarrassing myself.

"I... umm.... are you.... are you alright Miss Watson?"

She nods.

"I am now thanks to you."

'Dang, why am I so awkward?'

"Uhh my name's Peter...  we're going to get you out of here soon we need to kick someone's butt first though."

"You and the claw guy?"

"Yeah, we both need to face this Mojo guy but don't worry we'll make sure you're safe Miss Watson."

She nods

"Please, nobody calls me 'Miss Watson' my friends call me MJ."

The butterflies that had been fluttering around in my stomach from her flirting with me seem to drop dead. I'm no longer feeling in any mood for perusing any kind of relationship with Mary Jane. MJ... the girl I couldn't save. It's my fault the first love of my life isn't around anymore if I had just been there I could've stopped it.

Being reminded of her like this I can't even believe I allowed myself to be attracted to Mary Jane part of me feels like a traitor while a smaller part of me argues MJ wouldn't want me to be alone. Even though it's been three years the guilt has been too strong for me to listen to that. Mary Jane looks at me in concern.

"Are you alright?"

"I... I'm fine, I just... I used to know someone who went by that nickname... an old girlfriend."

"Oh well you don't have to call me that if she left a bad taste in your mouth."

"She.... uhhh ...she died."

She looks extremely regretful for making a joke about her.

"OH! I'm so sorry Peter! I didn't mean to make a mockery of her-"

"It's okay, you didn't know."

She's silent for a minute seeming to debate herself in her head as we wait for Logan to finish up his fight with the few remaining bad guys. She finally comes to a decision.

"I understand completely if you don't want to... but I- I'd kinda like to invite you to the premier of Lobster Man, once they reschedule it I mean, you know as a thank you... as someone without top billing I only get one plus one though so the other guy couldn't come along..."

I guess she really does like me she's rambling worse than I do and her question is completely out of the blue. I find myself doing the same things when I'm anxious. She goes on clarifying her proposition.

"...you'd be coming as a friend of course."

'As a friend'? I suppose that couldn't hurt. I smile nervously and the butterflies in my stomach make an irrational reappearance.

"Umm alright... sounds fun."

She nods looking happy with me agreeing to go. Logan appears then coming out of the building looking slightly peeved.

"Thanks for helping with the cleanup."

"Hey I saw how bad those guys were at fighting, you didn't need me to get in your way."

He chuckles at me using his own argument against him. We talk through what to do with Mary Jane and how we're going to face Mojo. We then set out to face him.
