Overprotective Sentiment

—-Loki—-

The next morning I receive a message from my brother on my phone. -'I've told our people of what happened we need to talk I'm out front'- I quietly slip out of our bedroom hoping Sam doesn't wake up to find me gone. I change into something presentable and walk out the front door. Thor wastes no time not bothering with many pleasantries and getting to his point rather quickly.

"Morning, brother. I've spoken with Fury, Ross, the FBI, and the head of the M.R.D I thought I should let you in on what's going on I'd let Sam in on it too but I figured maybe she wouldn't want to think about it any more than necessary."

I nod, I don't think she would but I'll ask her later. If she wants to be involved with all this I'll tell her anything she wants to know.

"Alright first, S.H.I.E.L.D got funding approved to hunt the bastards down, second Ross has made arrangements to move Amora here as soon as we have appropriate faculties to keep her here that way this won't happen again for now she's being more heavily guarded."

That will complicate my own agenda but I won't reveal my hand quite yet when it comes to that. I do however need a piece of information that may be a bit suspect.

"Has Amora any idea that the plan to capture Sam has gone awry?"

"Probably not. They don't often get news of the outside world in the Raft."

I nod trying to seem uninterested, this is good for my plans. If Amora knows any information that could help us she will be far more willing to share it if she thinks I've been brought to the point of desperation from Sam's apparent kidnapping and is unsure of what I'm capable of in that state.

"What about the other case has this overturned anything on that end?"

I'm not particularly curious about whether this has brought up new information about the case involving the identity of her captors from 2018 to 2023 of course I'd be glad if it did but I'm not expecting it to, I just need to keep talking so he doesn't guess what I'm up to. It should be easy enough Thor is easy to distract. He puts his hand on my shoulder sadly.

"I'm sorry but no, I know you've been seeking vengeance for what she was put through and I wish you could get the chance. They continue to elude us."

I don't even have to pretend to be disappointed by his answer because of the words that followed. I do want vengeance for my fiancée and it pains me I haven't been able to get it yet. She deserves to be avenged a thousand times over for the atrocities committed against her.

"So we can assume they were two separate entities?"

Thor nods taking his hand off me.

"I was getting to that. Fury thinks he knows who did this based off of some security footage. He thinks it was a organization called Weapons Plus apparently Logan was used by them too because he was irate when Fury said he thought it was them."

Sam had told me bits and pieces about what they did to Logan and Laura. If they're the ones after her we need to take them out, there's no safety for Sam if they're allowed to continue their operations. He continues.

"These people they're dangerous but not dangerous enough that she won't be safe here. I think it's for the best though if we make arrangements to bring Mary here, Fury said that getting to her will probably be their next course of action to gain control over Sam."

I nod and a reaction swells up in me I don't usually have for anyone but Sam and sometimes Peter. Overprotective sentiment.

"If they so much as touch a hair on her head..."

He puts his hand back on my shoulder understanding my worry after yesterday.

"She'll be safe brother I promise you. They dared not attack Sam when she was with her bridesmaids that tells me they're not equipped to try fighting the X-men so long as she stays with them like we discussed with Fury she'll be safe but for the long term it's safer to keep her here until we sort this out."

I nod hoping he's right.

"Now, I'm going to go retrieve Mjölnir I'll have a team of S.H.I.E.L.D agents and some Avengers with me. I have a hunch they may be waiting there for Sam to come back for it. I thought I should offer you the chance to join us."

I would like to go if they are there I'd love nothing more than to pour out my wrath upon them but I'm not leaving Sam here alone and bringing her along is out of the question.

"I can't leave her."

He nods he'd been expecting that answer he was asking out of principle.

"I know. I'll call you when it's over."

I nod and he's on his way. I return to the bedroom change back into more comfortable clothing and crawl back into bed beside a still sleeping Sam. I shut my eyes in an attempt to get some more sleep realizing I've barely gotten three hours in.
