—-Sam—-With the okay from Bruce on the safety of the arch reactor in Jotun hands and a flag declaring peace our mini army prepares to leave for Jotunheim. Asgard's best fighters are coming except Heimdall who's going to be staying here to look after New Asgard while we're gone. Thor dictated he was the best at leadership of the group and he would be the most suitable person to rule in Thor's stead should our mission go sideways.
I armor up as usual garbed in Asgardian style armor reflecting my husband's favorite colors. If anyone asks I'm Asgardian we can't let on just how easy it would be to assassinate me as that might be ideal revenge on Loki from Jotunheim's perspective. Thor's armor is looking slightly Christmasy at the moment as he has green accents accompanying his usual red aesthetic.
Not to mention we're both dressed for cold weather. I find his color choices extremely sweet. I become nervous as the others join Thor and I at our chosen meeting place. The Einherjar are in their regular garb though warmer clothes have been added to aid them in Jotunheim. Strange, Sif, and Valkyrie are also wearing at least a little green in their winterfied outfits.
Valkyrie's usual blue cape has been replaced with a green one and Sif's vambraces have green cloth underneath them rather than the usual red. Even Strange seemed to get the memo a green strip of fabric accenting his brown belt. Thor looks to the whole group.
"Are we ready?"
We each give a silent nod and Thor nods to Strange who opens a portal for all of us. As we step through we're met with a blast of cold wind. I shiver slightly and adjust my coat as I look around. The sky is dark and there are many almost pillar like mountainous bluish grey monolithic stone structures around us and in the horizon but other than this the landscape looks very barren and rocky.
I wonder if we're just in a desert like region of Jotunheim or something. It can't all look like this in order to properly sustain life, there has to be a thriving ecosystem on this planet somewhere. Thor takes a moment to survey the area as well before deciding it must look safe enough for now.
"Alright let's move."
We begin walking forward with Thor in the head of the group. We walk no longer than ten minutes when I notice we're being followed. I don't think anyone else has noticed yet, I'm really good at taking in my surroundings thanks to time spent with Logan practicing the skill. I quietly and subtly alert Thor to the situation taping him slightly with my shoulder then gesturing to the direction of the giants who are flanking us with my eyes.
He follows my eyes and I see realization spark in his expression he holds out his hand to stop our group from moving any further forward. He nods to The Einherjar who in turn hold our banner up a bit higher. Thor takes a step away from the group towards the direction of the giants who've been stalking us and holds his hands up.
"We're here to speak with Helblindi, we may have something to offer if he'll hear us."
A giant we hadn't even noticed was there before steps out from where he'd been naturally camouflaged wedged between some bolders and looks down at Thor with skepticism.
"Why would you offer something that could help us?"
It's clear he's beyond suspicious of us. I step forward slightly following Thor's lead by lifting my arms as I do.
"Because we need your help."
The giant laughs then looks back to Thor.
"I should slaughter you all like you did to those who sought to defend Jotunheim last time you set foot here princess, but because this maiden has made me laugh I'll allow you and your friends to go home now Odinson."
The giant turns to walk away at that and I can't help myself this is our one chance at finding Loki.
"Wait please!"
I feel a tear roll down my cheek as I step forward. The giant stops and looks down at me in annoyance. I get closer to the giant knowing he could see me as a threat and kill me on the spot but caring more about being heard than about how dangerous my actions are. I kneel down by his feet an action I'm at least 12% sure should at least give me a chance of being heard out by the Goliath.
"Please! Please at least relay our plea to Helblindi and let him decide what to do!"
I'm really crying now. The dam's once again been broken and I can't remain seeming like a stoic warrior woman any longer it's just not who I am. I let my full grief pour out in this moment convinced if this man says no to us that this is it and we'll never find Loki. These people whatever Asgard's history with them, they're our only shot.
I'm so desperate to find my husband all my fears from the past week and a half have culminated in me breaking down in this moment at this stranger's feet. I can sense movement around me but the giant who's feet I'm currently at seems to move too and the movement ceases I can only guess he's calling his men off.
I sense him crouch down and feel him delicately place a hand on my head. I sense movement once again and hear clanking of armor but it stops as Thor apparently calls our people off with a gesture. The giant speaks to me both sounding confused and dare I say concerned.
"Var tyst nu. Why so many tears sötnos? Who are you little one?"
I look up into the giant's eyes. Is it naive that I actually think I see compassion in them?
"I- I'm Samantha Logansdottir Princess of New Asgard... please... you're the only ones that can help us."
The giant sighs heavily. He mutters to himself before speaking to me
"Norns please don't let me regret this. Your heartache rings true to me Asgardian I sense no deception from you princess, therefore I will send one of my men to speak with Helblindi. I will leave your fate for him to decide."
I smile timidly and sniffle as I wipe a tear from my cheek and stand.
"Th-Thank you."
I catch the giant smile ever so slightly before quickly regaining his stoic demeanor towards me. He nods to one of his soldiers and they take off. I rejoin our group still wiping my face of tears. To say the least the others are looking at me in complete shock at what just happened. The Frost Giants that remain seem equally baffled by their leader's change of heart. We're left to wait together in an awkward tension to see what Helblindi decides to do.
