Because I Said So

—-Loki—-

I'm glad to have proof that Sam still trusts me just as fully after everything. She'd sounded very nervous in her request for help with her shower but the fact that she trusts me is something I hold dear. I'm appalled by the bruises left on her body from their assault on her I could even make out handprints this only fuels my desire to keep my promise, they're all going to die. Sam looks at me with curiosity as Thor leaves.

"So he called you earlier what's been going on?"

"You want to be involved? We can take care of this if you'd rather not think about it. "

She thinks for a moment seeming to seriously consider forgetting about the whole thing and just letting us take care of her. From her expression I can see she decides against it. Though it would have been more than fine if she'd decided to just keep out of the whole thing.

"I'd feel better if I was."

I nod though I'm skeptical she's not just getting involved because she'd feel like she's being a burden if she doesn't help. Regardless she deserves to take part if she chooses to at least with the investigation on the legal side of things so I explain what Thor had already told me.

"Ok and what's on your agenda?"

I knew this question was bound to come up I'd rather not keep secrets but if I tell her what I plan to do she could also end up in a bit of trouble if things don't go smoothly. If I'm caught in the act and loose any and all deniability she could end up in trouble for knowing about my plans and not telling anyone. Therefore I'm not going to tell her anything.

"Nothing I don't deem necessary."

She looks at me sharply.

"Loki..."

"We take care of each other and what I'm going to do will take care of you. I'm not going to get into any trouble I can't handle as per your request."

She sighs crossing her arms.

"Fine don't tell me, but I've got three rules for you mister, and this goes for any trouble you want to cause from here on out, one don't get yourself seriously hurt or killed, two don't get any serious jail time, and three don't get yourself kicked off the Avengers."

The stern way she looks at me now reminds me of how mother used to look at me when I was a child and caused poor Frigga to become exasperated with my mischief. I smile slightly. She looks for my compliance with her terms.

"Think you can handle that god of Mischief?"

"Of course love I promise."

She shakes her head smiling at me.

"Ok so that's settled I'm glad you're going to behave yourself. I'm gonna make a call I should probably talk to Mary and figure all that stuff out."

I object teasing her.

"Hold on, I never said I'd do something that drastic."

She giggles at me. I'm glad she's been able to laugh so soon after what happened it's been reassuring to see. After seeing her so afraid I had worried she'd shut back down like she'd been the first couple weeks after she first met me at S.H.I.E.L.D.

"I know. Just making sure you're paying attention."

Sam makes arrangements for Mary to arrive here tomorrow. I'll be glad when she's here in the safety of Tønsberg. I lay down on the couch still feeling tired my magic is still all but drained I need to rest. I can't carry out my plan until my magic is back at full strength. I guess this is fine as I also can't leave until Sam is feeling safer. Sam gets off the phone and approaches me looking concerned.

"Lo' are you ok?"

"I'll be fine I'm just tired. I had to nearly deplete my reserve of magic to end the fight Strange and I were dealing with when Heimdall told me you were in danger."

She looks even more worried.

"You told me never to do that. That it could kill you."

"It could, but I had somewhere I needed to be."

She looks angry and scared.

"That's no excuse! What if you had died?! What would I do without you?! Don't do stuff like that!"

I stand back up looking her in the eye trying to stop her from her hysterics.

"But I didn't."

She looks even more angry so I quickly go on in another attempt to calm her down touching her cheek lightly with my hand.

"Darling I won't try something like that again I didn't mean to frighten you."

She looks visibly calmer at this so I tease her slightly in an attempt to lighten the very serious mood in the room. I give her a mischievous smile.

"Though I remind you your rules weren't in effect yet when I did it."

She rolls her eyes and tries to remain cross with me but fails to hide a small amused smile.

"You should still know not to take risks like that stupid."

"Perhaps, but since when am I one to avoid risk?"

She puts her hands on her hips standing up straight to make herself look as tall as possible though I still tower over her comparatively small 5'4 stature.

"Since I said so."

I chuckle and she raises an eyebrow I smile at her fondly.

"Yes mortal."

She's the only one who could make me bend the knee in this way without any display of superior strength or status. She smiles, fully satisfied with my response and we sit back down on the couch. Sam leans on me and I'm comforted feeling her presence next to me so as she searches through Netflix for something to watch I drift off.
