It's the next week avenging has been slow so we're both pretty relaxed. There's a Midsommar festival going on (with thankfully no relation to the movie of the same name) though it's a traditionally Swedish holiday, for the Asgardians all these different countries that have ties to Nordic culture kind of blend together.
Since Asgard would usually celebrate its own Midsommar anyway on Asgard they decided when they came here to what was once part of Norway to continue celebrating it but instead of being held according to Asgard's seasons it's now held when the Midsommar season is happening in this region of Earth. Since we're both in high spirits we're participating in the celebrations.
There's the usual ongoing feasting and mead, the few but ever young children running around wearing and offering to make others flower crowns, as well as pop up shops selling everything from dresses to swords to pastries. I love, love, love Asgardian pastries.
Loki and I both have quite the sweet tooth when it comes to fritters, funnel cakes, and gingerbread all made with some authentic Asgardian spices, herbs, and other ingredients that managed to take to Earth's soil when they settled here. The pastries taste out of this world. Though Asgard may be lacking in the candy department they more than make up for it with their baked goods.
We find a moment of respite from the crowded festival on a hilltop with a beautiful view of the ocean. It's pretty romantic and I can tell from the way we're kissing if we don't slow down we'll have to take this back home. Like all good things in my life it seems the universe is determined to whisk this good moment away.
It happens suddenly, one second I'm with my husband enjoying both his lips and the beautiful view, the next a purple colored circle similar to the kind made by sling rings is opening up on the ground beneath us. I instinctively step back in shock he does too but it only follows him. I'm baffled.
"What's going on?! What is that?!"
He looks at the ring of purple light on the ground surrounding him in bewilderment then looks back up at me and keeps calm knowing I'm freaking out.
"Not again... It's not me, I thi-"
He's cut short by a portal opening up beneath him and falling through. I'm immediately at the portal but it's closed leaving only ordinary solid ground in its place I stand there a little too stunned to move for a second. 'Did that really just happen?' 'And so easily... he was standing there next to me now poof he's gone!'
I start to really freak out now thinking of every possibility. Could this be the work of Mordo? Amora? Doom? A resurrected Hela?? Stranger things have happened. Stranger- Strange I have to contact Strange!! This is obviously magic!! I try taking out my phone with shaking hands only to drop it on the ground. Before my voice can leave me from my panic I call out my voice wavering.
"Hei- Heimdall!"
—-Loki—-
I fall but not for long. I get up from the place I fell and dust myself off as I take a look around. I'm in some sort of underground dwelling. I turn around with a start as I hear a feminine voice behind me.
"Loki, Loki... you didn't think you'd get away with making a fool out of Mephisto, did you?"
