Best Man

I walk up to Thor's doorstep and knock this is the last task I will be accomplishing today. He opens the door and smiles warmly.

"Hello brother!"

I don't try to suppress my smile it wouldn't work anyway.

"Hello."

"What brings you here?"

I sigh but still smile.

"I think you already know."

He crosses his arms looking just a little smug as he leans up against the house. I can tell he loves that we've warmed back up to each other so much and he likes me to express my affections. Since everything I've found doing so difficult... I complicate things. He truly is patient with me as difficult as I am at times. He understands or at least tries to, I'm not the same as I was before discovering what I am... or before my fall from the bridge. Some days though I truly do try to be, today is one of those days.

"Humor me."

I give in to his request.

"You know we're following Midgardian traditions... I need a best man..."

He looks at me hopefully and I smirk a bit, no harm in messing with him just a little.

"Do you think Peter will accept my request?"

His face falls he looks genuinely hurt though he's trying to hide it looking to the ground.

"I'm sure he will."

I immediately regret my propensity for mischief in this particular circumstance. I'm surprised by myself when I find my hand on his shoulder.

"Thor it was only a jest of course I want it to be you brother."

He looks up at me with what could only be described as genuine giddiness. Before he gets the chance to smother me in a hug I hug him gently as to set the tone for it so he doesn't crush my ribs in his excitement. As we end the hug he all but shouts at me.

"Brother I love you!"

I chuckle slightly. Though I feel slightly uncomfortable at all this affection I refuse to hesitate in my reply this time.

"I love you too, you oaf."

AN: Sorry this chapters like really short but it felt complete there so I ended it don't worry the next one's also in Loki's perspective there's just a lot to unpack with Sam and I didn't want this moment between the Odinson Bros to be overshadowed by all that.
