A Tale of Mischief and Mutants part 2

Justice

I'm so caught up in the celebrating Sam and I have been doing over the past couple of days that I'm almost surprised when Fury along with a dozen of our other guests that happen to be Avengers are called away to deal with a problem I've already solved. Fury stopped by to explain why he and the others had to take off before leaving and as usual I managed to feign ignorance about everything, he suspects nothing... for now. I know he'll probably take one look at the burnt down compound and figure it out.

He's too intelligent not to, but I left nothing that directly links me to the scene so there's nothing for me to worry about. At the news we decide it's for the best we stay home to actually seem concerned about the current situation Thor and Mary come knocking shortly after. I assume Thor was left off the mission for similar reasons I was left off of it. Mary looks anxious about the news as she plops down onto our couch next to Vili stroking her scales nervously with her gaze focused on Sam.

"Hey sis, you holding up ok?"

Sam words things so they aren't actually a lie.

"I'll feel better once everything's settled down from whatever they find."

Thor looks to her reassuringly.

"They will be brought to justice."

In my opinion they already have been, many would argue that what I did wasn't justice but after everything they did both to Sam and to others... They started a war they couldn't hope to win when they chose to lay a hand on my queen. My mind wanders to the boy once again.

I've been wondering about him it wouldn't be ideal for hiding my involvement in this from S.H.I.E.L.D but part of me hopes they find a connection between the boy and this case so I can at least be able to confirm whether he made it home. I would be satisfied if I was able to learn that at least.

Sam nods looking a bit nervous I know it's from worry over my hand in this being discovered but to our siblings it will only seem as if she's worried about the current situation.

"Who's all going?"

I'm also curious about this Thor had been with the others when they were called away.

"Sister... I don't want to worry you..."

Sam looks at him sternly wanting an answer. He sighs relenting at her glare.

"Bruce, Steve, Bucky, Sam, Natasha, Clint, T'Challa, Wanda, Vision, Scott, Hope... and Peter."

So they've sent in an army. With all of them working together that's what they may as well be. I'm glad, if I hadn't intercepted those coordinates this is exactly the kind of response I would have wanted from S.H.I.E.L.D. Thor looks like he's expecting Sam to be upset by this. Sam nods silently looking at the floor.

Though she's good lying in certain circumstances she's not as good at it as I am. She probably assumes it's better if she keeps quiet. This works fine as she's always tended to do this when upset anyway. I'd rather avoid talking to Thor about this unless he figures out for certain it was my doing or until things have calmed down.

I've been trying to be less violent and I've been trying to follow Midgard's laws. Though I have some confidence he won't find fault in my actions. Looking back at all I did I can't be one hundred percent certain of that. I could fathom him either being upset by my actions or him being regretful he wasn't asked to participate.

I however do know without doubt that regardless of his feelings about my actions he won't tell Fury. He'll understand I'm not going to make this a habit unless others make terrorizing my wife their habit. I offer some masked encouragement I know she probably feels guilty about lying to Thor

"I'm sure he'll be fine darling."

She just nods again staying silent and leaning against me on the couch. We sit there for quite some time Sam and Mary decide on a distraction of one of Sam's favorite shows. A few episodes in I receive a call from Fury I hit speaker phone as I answer. I can't help but feel a swell of anxiousness things are about to get interesting.
