New and Old Allies

We quickly work to make the exchange I hold both a working arc reactor and instructions on how to make more of them as we wait for Helblindi and Strange to finish collecting the necessary genetic material for the spell.

As I wait Helblindi's words play again in my mind 'That Odin did not slaughter his firstborn as my father believed?' That changes everything... I suddenly come to another realization a memory of something Laufey said to me during my fool hearted trip to Jotunheim over a decade ago bubbling to the surface... 'Your father is a murderer and a thief!'

Laufey was under the assumption that Odin killed Loki, this is a revelation in and of itself but more shocking is my realization that Laufey was hurt by it. 'Was Loki not quite as abandoned as Odin believed?' 'Did the allfather unknowingly steal a child from a father that wanted him... or did he do it knowingly?' I hate that my mind wanders this way but my father's kept darker secrets from me as proven by the history of Asgard Hela revealed to me.

I can no longer think of my father as a force of pure good as I once saw him. Not after all the lies. Finally Strange rejoins our group sample at hand. I find myself extremely grateful and in keeping with the unorthodox way we've been interacting with the Jotuns today I decide to express this. I kneel as I offer our gift to Helblindi.

The significance of this gesture won't be lost on Helblindi in our peoples histories the choice to bend the knee or to not is one so significant that it has ended and started wars between us.

"Thank you."

Helblindi looks utterly shocked and due to his shock he hesitates before taking it from me.

"You've really found a place for one of ours in your heart haven't you Odinson? No one acts as you do out of duty but only out of love."

I nod. He smiles slightly looking over our group again as he holds the arch reactor.

"Please rise Odinson and go in peace, may you safely find our brother."

I rise and nod in appreciation finding it extremely odd that Helblindi's seemingly so quickly accepted that Loki is his brother. He likely has mixed feelings towards Loki but somehow still sees it appropriate to refer to him as his brother.

I leave wondering why we've never been able to get through the Frost Giants' icy exterior before as they seem now to be sentimental creatures rather than the stoic cold hearted monsters I grew up hearing about in stories.

We return to New Asgard and my mind is set only on Strange's spell and finding my brother. I'm so focused on that, that I nearly walk right by a familiar face who greets me as I exit Strange's portal. I stop dead in my tracks as my mind suddenly rips from its lazer focus on the situation at hand only to be baffled by who stands before me.

"JANE?!"

Jane looks at me awkwardly it's been years since we've spoken.

"...hi."

My mind runs a million miles a minute I'm filled with questions by her sudden reappearance in my life. I'm also flooded by waves of different emotions. Relief she's here, happiness over seeing her again, sadness that we're no longer together, anger over the fact that she left me, and every emotion in between courses through me in an instant as I see her standing there. I can't even begin to express what I'm feeling right now so I wind up asking the most generic of questions.

"What are you doing here?!"

"I heard about your brother and I came as soon as I could. It was hell trying to book a flight into Norway or even Sweden due to you guys shutting down the boarder. They're trying to limit the possibility of the press trying to sneak into Asgard.
Darcy and I also had to attempt to sneak past a bunch of guards with pointy things, it didn't go well but luckily Heimdall intervened before Darcy got out her taser and let us pass. I managed to convince Erik to use his instruments to scan the atmosphere and search for any anomalies.
Darcy's been using her resources provided by her position at S.W.O.R.D to scan for anything anomalous here in New Asgard since we arrived. We'll do whatever we can to help find him we've already vetted some astronomic disturbances."
