I refuse to let my father ruin my wedding day. I'm going to be happy damnit! I giggle internally at my stubbornness and smile at my husband. He seems surprised but smiles back.
After a short walk we arrive at the celebration it's a bit intimidating to be the center of everyone's attention. I can tell Loki's not the most comfortable with it either. Even if we're introverted (though I didn't used to be and you'd never guess that about Loki from the way he acts when he gets thrown into social situations) we both have apparently decided to grin and bear the next week.
Yes week. Apparently that's how long the celebration will last. I'm not saying sneaking off when the crowds become too much to bare is completely off the table but I don't want my fear to keep me from celebrating my marriage. As Loki opens the door for me on our way in he whispers in my ear.
"I have something for you do you want me to give it to you in front of everyone or in private?"
I know he's only trying to be sensitive about my anxiety over the crowds but keeping tonight in mind I can't help but tease him a bit as we walk through the crowd hand in hand.
"That depends what it is some things are better done in private."
He looks perplexed for a moment usually he's the one making these kinds of comments. He mostly does it teasingly not to put pressure on me or anything like that. I find it somewhat funny if a little irritating having the same effects as a dad joke at this point. I giggle at him jeeze Asgardian women must be prudes he acts as if no women ever flirt like this. He laughs.
"No my dear it's nothing like that."
I can tell by a pause what he's leaving unspoken 'unless you wanted to.'
"I just have a gift for you."
I smile. Really? He's done so much already.
"Umm yeah, I wouldn't mind getting away from all these people for a minute."
He smiles and takes me into a side room closing the door behind him so we're alone. He smiles at me in adoration just looking at me for a moment before summoning something into his hands. As it materializes I realize it's a tiara. I gasp at its beauty it's gold adorned with jewels the same as the one on my engagement ring.
"Lo'! Oh my god it's beautiful! ...but I thought tiaras weren't worn by Asgardian princesses."
He smiles placing it on my head.
"Last time I checked you were a mortal darling, and you may only be Asgard's princess but you're my queen."
I'm tearing up.
"I... I don't know what to say."
Then I think of the obviously right words hugging him tightly as I speak them.
"...I love you."
He pulls me slightly away only so his lips can reach mine. We kiss and he embraces me again.
"I love you too my darling mortal wife."
