Seungmin was right, it wasn't long before the lights were dimmed and a video began playing which meant the graduation was beginning.
A woman stepped up to the stage, a light turning in her direction that followed her as she walked. She began, "Welcome friends, parents, family, and students to this year's senior graduate ceremony. First, I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to be here today, and taking the time to see your child offically complete a huge milestone in their lives. To start things up, a surprise video will be shown for our graduates to see. So if you please, silence your cellphones and be seated." With that, she walked off stage and the light that followed her slowly faded into darkness.
The group of us had picked seats somewhere in the middle among the top rows, and we had a pretty good view of the stage.
The video beginning wasn't a long one per say, but it seemed to recap different things that happened over the course of this year, and different moments and events the year book club as well as student council happened to capture on camera.
It was a more nostalgia designed video, to remind everyone of happy memories before they leave this campus for a college one.
There was honestly nothing academic about it, it seemed to purely be moments and memories. Simply snip-it's of time that had passed.
To begin, there were people chasing each other around the soccer fields, and the volleyball club practicing somewhere outside during pe. There were girls huddled together at a lunch table, putting up peace signs at the camera. Then small classrooms full of sleep deprived, yet happy students ready to at least try to learn something with their energetic art teacher and her bright smile.
This followed by a fall festival of some sort, with games and different booths filled with items of all kind just waiting to go home with a student. I saw a stuffy that caught my eyes but I shook it off with a pinch of salt because I knew full well I shouldn't be complaining. After all I wasn't attending this school anytime before winter break so even if I wanted it, there was no way I would've known. (And I wasn't the one graduating so I get to see next year's festivities).
But then, something even bigger caught my attention. It was a picture with eleven specific people, all in which I recognized.
At first I saw Felix and Chan, the smaller sat on the older's lap with a pretty smile and a peace sign. Then Changbin, hyunjin, Seungmin and Jeongin laughing in the middle of the photo as they were seated as such at the lunch table. And It only continued as I registered each face in my head.
Nezi and Taeri were smiling, appearing behind everyone as if sitting on the table top itself. Then there was me and Minho. The older's arm lying comfortably over my shoulder, while my head rested on his chest as I waved to the camera.
Then I noticed something. How Minho wasn't looking at the camera at all.
He was looking down at me. With the smallest smile that I'd maybe only seen from him a hand full of times, along with pretty black eyes that seemed to sparkle with some sort of emotion held inside.
I rubbed my arm uncomfortably, letting my gaze fall to the floor. Almost out of unease.
This picture of all of us together caught everyone except Jeongin by surprise.
Hyunjin immediately turned to the younger and said with a seemingly shocked tone, "did you have anything to do with this?"
And the youngest nodded proudly, hands on his hips as he held his head high. "Chan wanted it in there too. Since we're student council and all, we helped the yearbook club put this all together!"
