Reuploaded Chapter Fourteen: The Second

The air inside the Divine Intervention was palpable. An uncomfortable ringing within the air signified Ja'Kles arrival in the space, all protogenic eyes trained on him and him alone.

He had been given the task of finding his way to Mason's room with vague instructions on how. They were preparing to do a Fold-Stream, and since Ja'Kle himself was not equipped to tackle the full frontal assault that came with being near the pilot, he was directed towards Mason's room.

With that being said, he found his way to the cafeteria, where all but five protogen were currently residing. Ja'Kle gulped as he entered, quickly coming to a complete stop as the air instantly dried.

"I do believe you are in the wrong place, good sir." A patient protogen observed, colored a nauseating green color. His visor was spiked into a point, leading into what looked like a mini-horn. He had a relatively long and thin tail as well.

"S-Sorry, I was just trying to find a way to Mason's room." Ja'Kle sputtered out, folding his hands together tentatively. There were only three protogen that weren't openly hostile towards him. A quant looking pink one, the noxious purple one, and the orange chef.

"Ahh, yes. The way to the Captain's room is quite ingenious in it's complexity. Please, allow me to accompany you." The green protogen replied, standing up from his seat while laying down his cup of, well, Ja'Kle wasn't quite sure what.

"My name is Noxious, but you may call me Nox." The green protogen exclaimed, jutting out his green clawed hand. Ja'Kle took it kindly, though he was still extremely nervous. The other protogen got back to what they were doing, which was chatting, but still glanced at him every so often.

Noxious grabbed Ja'Kles hand as he led him out, which felt rather odd. It was like the hand itself was made out of some rubbery, elastic material. It seemed to bend and dip into his internal structure, and as the protogen raised a finger to point at a doorway with his hand still there, he could feel a muscle twitch.

"What brought you aboard here?" Noxious asked as he patiently brought him through the long corridor, trying to make conversation. Being a general assistant, he wasn't quite important enough to be included in every conversation.

"I uhh... I snuck aboard." Ja'Kle answered, rubbing his shoulder. The protogen manifested some eyebrows against his visor, and then raised them. They turned a small corner as Noxious gave his response.

"Really now? And Mason allowed you to stay aboard? Now that is strange." He replied, giving a sort of harrumph to his voice. Ja'Kle couldn't help but compare it to the sons and daughters of the rich on his home planet. Obnoxiously confident in themselves to a fault.

"Yeah... I have some importance, I think." Ja'Kle replied, scratching the backside of his head, "Something about how I evolved, I think. Changed, somehow." He continued to elaborate, gesturing vaguely.

"Well... What do you think of Captain?" Noxious asked, pointing him towards the door leading into Mason's room. They paused just outside it, with Ja'Kle scratching his head.

"I think he's cute, I guess? No, no, actually, he's hot. He's pretty funny too, at least to me..." Ja'Kle answered after thinking about it for a minute. He was well beyond the point of trying to hide it. Besides, if he was important, he knew that the protogen wouldn't do much.

"Ahh." Noxious answered, nodding his head with his visor forming a small smile, "Well, then... I don't know what to tell ya." Noxious replied, turning his head and gesturing for Ja'Kle to take a peek, which he did, finding a small indent in the wall.
