Chapter Twenty-Six: Of Minerals and Battles

Mason could hardly breathe as they breached the doorway leading into the Occult Center Inc. building, his body as tired as his arms were rigid and stiff. He collapsed against the doorway, a mere three feet inside the building.

They didn't have much time, but Mason needed to catch his breath. He glanced back, hoping that the protogen they had sent out were fine. Ruinate flew past him, his visor displaying a face of confusion and discomfort.

The Occult building was the largest building he had ever seen, and it was seemingly abandoned. It obviously held power, as the lights were on and they had a gentle hum, but it was old, musty, dusty, and above all else, dirty.

The walls were a dark shade of gray, although in a few spots Mason could see some of the old paint; a cheery yellow color. His nose itched with the dust, but he brushed it off. Pipes hung off the walls and dug into the concrete floor, and countless machines and equipment was scattered around.

Renaissance and Bailout helped Mason up onto his paws, aiming to hold Ja'Kle for a change, but Mason declined them. He wanted to carry Ja'Kle. It was the least he could do, as he wasn't there to protect him and Hannah when they needed it.

"I can feel... something." Freefall commented, her claws clattering against one another as she glanced around the space. Viscera nodded next to her, their visor displaying the same confused face as Ruinate's.

"Something is here, definitely. I thought this place was abandoned, But I can feel it. The hum and gentle radiation of something..." Ruinate called to them. Renaissance quickly walked over to him, easing his nerves by keeping his mind off of the ones outside.

"Noxious... Retaliate." Mason called weakly, stumbling towards Ruinate and Renaissance. The green and the hazy blue protogen hastily walked up to their captain, awaiting his orders. These two were the more medium power individuals in his party. And they needed more protogen outside to help.

"Go... Go outside and protect this place. We need more time as the ship calibrates the pods. It'll take five, maybe eight minutes. Tell us when the rest get here, okay?" The two nodded at Mason's command, quickly taking off towards the outside, a fierce look of loyal determination on their face, even if they were nearing their doom.

They would never mistrust their captain.

Mason turned his head to Ruinate, who was hovering around a small obstruction in the room. It appeared to be cylindrical, and it was covered by a sheet of thick wool. It hummed with presence, and although Mason couldn't feel it, all his protogen could.

Mason only drew his unnatural strength from being around his protogen, and being surrounded by Boson Energy. His protogen had it in their blood, in their ichor. Mason could only feel it if it was free-floating in the air, not necessarily when it was contained.

And lo-and-behold, once Ruinate swiped his clawed hand against the fabric, they were met with a container. A clear one, and one visibly under a lot of pressure. Beside the canister was a small pump, one with a nozzle attached to it.

"This... This is Blue-Boson Energy... in a liquid form." Ruinate examined, breathless. His visor shone with blue light as it radiated off the liquid. As Boson was, effectively, concentrated anti-reality, it could exist in all four states of matter, and technically, it could exist as an infinite state of matter.

As a solid, as in particles, a liquid, as in the liquid in the canister, a gas, as in the fogy substance that coated the landscape outside after Fallout's fallout, and as plasma. The truest form, and what Boson Energy is.
