Chapter One Hundred and Six: That Which is Evil

A single step. Ja'Kle took a single step forward, his paw pressing against the cold, almost fabric like feel of the floor before him. As he put weight on that paw to start into a sprint, he felt a cold shiver shriek up his spine, feeling an electric like shock in his bones. His step reverberated against the walls.

Even as the absent matter took hold of his body, the protective coating oozing across his fur and pressing tight against his skin, flush with it, he could barely move. The shock to his system was much like Freefall's ability. He could still move, by commanding the absent matter around him, but it required almost full attention to command.

"I told you, there was and is no stopping this. Divento's plan is fool-proof. All that there is needing to be done is to finalize it, and activate it while he deals with your time." Juda responded, turning to the machine, her visor flashing into a small smile, "And his goal, his life-span's work, will be complete."

Her words echoed as she said them, bouncing across walls and falling upon nearly deaf ears. Ja'Kle could feel himself growling as he attempted to command his muscles, his body, to move at all. But it couldn't. He should've been less cocky and more careful. Mason would've told him that.

Ja'Kle glanced at the protogen before him, taking in her appearance. He could move his mouth at least, and vocalize too, "What is his plan, then, hmm? What is this grand redesign that he's told you he's going to do?" Ja'Kle asked her, both sincere and mockingly.

Juda turned to look at the machine, almost with a longing passion, " To reshape the universe. Eradicate pain and unpleasant things. Violence, death, disease, war, famine, pain, agony, all that is what he wishes to destroy. Tell me, is that not a universe worth sacrificing so much for?" She asked him, visor eyes shining deeply and brightly.

"Are you sure that's his only goal?" He asked her, and Juda glanced back at him, raising an 'eyebrow', "Are you saying that you know for a hundred percent that he has the universe's best wishes at heart? Look at what he has done and orchestrated. Massacres, creating and morphing Caligaria... How can you look at him and think that he is helping the universe?"

Juda looked appalled at his words, both hands tightening into sharp fists, "How dare you... How dare you! He has the universes' needs and wants, he wears them on his sleeve. All that is worth sacrificing if it allows him to destroy all that which is evil and wrong!"

"All that he's doing is getting rid of the natural process! Without pain we wouldn't know pleasure, we wouldn't be happy without feeling sad! Death and temporary things are what give life its preciousness." Ja'Kle rebutted, his voice straining as he attempted to fight back against whatever held control on his body.

"And what even qualities as good or evil? Good and evil to him? For us, creation itself is a purely good thing. For him... doesn't he get hurt, doesn't he suffer, when he's around man-made stuff? Wouldn't that count as something evil to him?" Ja'Kle countered his muscles straining as he fought harder, his voice strained.

Juda glared at him, turning to look at the machine, though Ja'Kle noticed that there was a hint of doubt within her, "Obviously so. But even if that were the case, would he destroy all that he is the literal God of for something as petty?" She rebutted, though her tone was a little less confident.

Ja'Kle scoffed, and poured his attention in attempting to move, utilizing his absent matter to force himself to, "I don't think constant searing pain around any inorganic creations is petty." Ja'Kle responded through gritted teeth.

"And besides-" Ja'Kle announced, slowly breaking free from whatever hold was upon his body. He took a weary step, the congealing mass of flowing absent matter pressing hard against his muscles to get them to move. He stumbled forward, towards Juda, whom took a step backwards, terrified.

Ja'Kle produced a guttural grunt as that hold on his muscles, that temporary paralysis, had finally expired through his strength and abilities. He felt stiff, almost like a statue, but his muscles were starting to obey him once more, no longer paralyzed and useless. Ja'Kle flexed his fingers, and they barely obeyed him. He couldn't fight her, even now.

Ja'Kle took his opportunity to move backwards, away from whatever he attempted to walk through, carefully observing his surroundings as he began to try to walk. Juda looked at him with an insane amount of fear, her visor nearly glitching out as it tried to gesture a facial expression.

It was a wonder how a collection of pixels could contain and express so much emotion.

"Besides... a god that is benevolent wouldn't be killing other gods and pitting entire races against one another. And he wouldn't manipulate and kill others to get his way. If he was benevolent, and truly wanted to destroy death, he wouldn't cause it." Ja'Kle turned his head to look at the protogen.

"Look around you! My boyfriend has been fighting against Pattern Screamers and so many other threats among the stars for years! They are some of the kindest, noblest people in the universe. Why on earth would these people fight against a god that is supposedly for the better good, if they thought that he was fighting for the greater good."

Ja'Kle stepped back, anger evident in his eyes, "All that being said... that's why we're fighting. Because we know that a benevolent god wouldn't commit such atrocities. Because of what he's already done.'

Ja'Kle felt the absent matter leak around his body, building inside him. He remembered what had been told to him. That he was using it as if it were some hard-light construct generator, not the godly blessing he was gifted.

Well, better late than never to learn what that meant.
