Chapter Fifty-Nine: We're Nearly There

Upon hearing the name Airies and seeing the fact that the planet was a tropical one, Ja'Kle still hadn't been expecting this much foliage.

They had landed nearly a half hour before, slamming down onto the planet's surface in a remote part of it, the pods collapsing and hiding themselves in the dirt for later use. They had landed in a large open field, with many different holes, craters, and destroyed machines scattered about here and there.

They had brought along most of the protogen that wouldn't cause too much of a stir. Despite being a group that goes from planet to planet, they weren't well known, the Igni-Tenbris incident was a fine example of that. Taking four or five protogen wouldn't be all that weird in the environment. Especially with how many come to the planet to seek a new life.

The protogen that came along were as follows: Bailout, Rip-Cord, Cardinal, and Freefall. All the rest stayed on the ship, or were going to explore the other planets under Nebula and Aberration's command. It would be easier that way, even if Juda was far more likely to appear on Airies.

"The nearest city is about six or seven miles north, Abaddon City, I think is it's name. Translated, anyways." Mason told the group, glancing down at the holo-pad he was given. Airies had a well documented map, even as it changed due to the inhabitants' meddling. Mason nestled that into his belt, sighing as he squinted across the field.

The group started north, with Mason and Ja'Kle in the middle as the protogen walked on all sides of them, "How many cities are there?" Ja'Kle asked, flexing his fingers as he let out shaky breaths. In his flexing hand was a small glob of void, seemingly iridescent as they crossed into the forest, the shadows from the leaves mixing into the shadow essence he created.

"Not that many, but they are gigantic. About seven major cities with eleven or fifteen smaller cities for utility purposes and slums." Mason explained, ticking his finger against his sickle, a new one from Viscera's room. It hadn't been given a name yet, as Viscera had been looking through their stock. With a simple flick of the wrist, the sickle could turn into a scythe.

Ja'Kle hummed in response, his pawsteps very deliberate in that he wanted to make sure he was on solid ground. This was the first time after he got the blessing that he would go into a truly dangerous place. He lightly palmed the ball of void-space as they continued walking, deciding that looking at the protogen around him was a better endeavor than freaking out.

Bailout was obviously changed. His once long and slender tail had been replaced with a geometric, blade-like tail that could most easily sever a head from it's neck with a swipe, although the closer that Ja'Kle looked at it, the more he saw that the blades were rather dull. He was still colored a light blue, but he had a darker blue-gray color for his metallic parts.

He also seemed to have a permanent nervous expression, even as he expressed glee or happiness. A weird choice, but one that Ja'Kle thought looked at least somewhat decent.

Rip-Cord hadn't changed much. For some reason, the team at The Forge got rid of his armor on his chest, and some of the plated armor against his ankles. His chest was fit and muscular, so it wasn't the worst cosmetic change, but it didn't seem to add anything else. Besides the gauntlets for obvious reasons. His tail stay the same though.

Cardinal had changed drastically. She was a deep red color, with bright red eyes. She seemed slimmer, although that might've been due to the battle that had taken place. Her armor was a bleached red as well, with a large tear-drop shaped insignia embedded into the chest armor. Her gauntlets were sharp, and her two weapons' hilts were peeking out of her mechanical thighs. Her tail was organic however, a fluffy red to orange fad.
