Emma was filming Little Women in Massachusetts while (Y/n) was taking care of Michael in LA at home. While she was gone, everything had been going great. She was supposed to be back in three weeks, and both boys hadn't burned the house down, so everything had been fine. That was until Michael got sick.

He had been feeling a bit hot over the past few days, but it wasn't a fever. He had been experiencing sudden chills and had developed a cough. His temperature had gone up, but not enough for it to be considered a fever yet.

(Y/n) hadn't told Emma because he thought Michael would be fine and it would pass in a few days, and he didn't want to worry her. Michael wasn't that scared, he thought it was just a cold because that's what his father kept telling him. He was only seven, he didn't know any better.

This morning, (Y/n) came and took Michael's temperature, seeing it has gone up to a fever. That's when he knew they should probably go to the hospital. "Alright, we're gonna go to the doctors. C'mon, get dressed." He told his son, helping him out of bed. Once Michael was dressed, (Y/n) gave him some water to drink, and they made their way to the hospital.

Once they got there, Michael was put into a room, and they checked him over. (Y/n) was going to call Emma and tell her what was going on once the doctors told him what they were going to do.

"Okay, so he does have a high fever, but we're going to keep him here and just try to cool him down a bit and make sure his fever drops." The doctor told (Y/n), and he nodded. "Alright." He agreed, taking out his phone. "Where's mummy?" Michael asked. "She's still in Massachusetts, but I'm going to call her." He told Michael, and the boy nodded.

"Hello? (Y/n) we're in the middle of a take what is going on?" Emma asked once she answered the phone. "Now don't freak out but I have to tell you something." He started, unsure how he was going to tell her where they were and what was going on. "Is everything okay?" She asked again, growing nervous.

"Um, yes and no. Michael has a fever and it's kind of bad so I brought him to the hospital, but the good news is he's not going to die or anything and they're trying to cool him down a bit." He shared, Emma going quiet. "Is he okay?! Why didn't you tell me he had a fever earlier! I would've came home!" She screeched, making (Y/n) wince slightly. "Because you need to film! And I didn't want to worry you because I thought it was just a cold!" He defended, hearing Emma sigh over the phone. He heard her explaining the situation to Greta, and also hearing Florence and Saoirse ask if he's okay in the background as well.

"I'm getting on a plane back home, I just bought my ticket. Give Michael the phone." She told him, leaving no room for any disagreement. He passed Michael the phone, and he held it up to his ear. "Hi baby, are you okay? I'm getting on a plane and I'm coming home right now to see you." She asked the boy in a soft tone, much softer than she was with (Y/n).

"They put washcloths on my head. And they gave me a sticker but I haven't put it on yet cause I'm not wearing my normal clothes." Michael told her, really only caring about his Spider-Man sticker the nurse had given him.

"That's very fun for you, but are you feeling okay?" She continued, obviously wanting to hear from him about how he felt instead of what (Y/n) had told her. "Hot. And sometimes cold." He answered, a yawn following after. "Okay, get some sleep baby, and I'll see you when you wake up. I'm getting on the airplane to come back home. Love you!" She told him, and he nodded, even though she couldn't see it. "Bye mummy! Love you!"

Michael handed the phone back to (Y/n), and he held it back up to his ear. "I'm getting on a plane now, and I'll be there in a few hours. Greta let me go home for the week so I can be with Michael if anything else happens. Text me if anything changes." She instructed. "Alright. He's just fallen asleep so I expect nothing will really be going on." He shared with her, hearing a relieved sigh from the other line.

"Well I'll be there in a few hours. And once I get there I'm not leaving his side." She told him, an assertive tone being heard. "Okay, have a safe flight. Love you." He whispered, not wanting to wake Michael. "Love you too! Text me if anything changes." She responded, hanging up the phone.

A few hours later, Emma walked into the hospital room, Michael still asleep. She gave (Y/n) a quick hug, before turning to see Michael stirring, about to wake up. She sat down on the chair next to him and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. She stroked his hair for a few minutes, and his eyes fluttered open. "Hi Michael, how are you feeling?" Emma asked him, bringing him into a hug, also careful not to hurt him in any way. "Not too hot." He mumbled, and she gave him a soft smile. "That's good." She whispered, not letting him out of the hug and giving him a kiss on his forehead.

The doctor came in a few minutes later and took his temperature again. "He's somewhat back to a normal temperature. It's still high but it is going down which is good. I think we should keep him here for the night, and we'll check again tomorrow and see how he is." The doctor told them, both of them agreeing.

(Y/n) went out and picked up some food for everyone, seeing as Michael hadn't eaten too much yet. They had a small meal together before visiting hours were over. Only one parent was allowed to stay with Michael since he was too young to be here by himself, so Emma volunteered herself to stay.

The night wasn't that bad, and it consisted of Emma reading Michael different stories and telling him all about set while they cuddled together.

"Flo!" Michael whispered, seeing her name pop up on the screen. "Do you wanna say hi to Flo?" Emma asked, Michael nodding and she pressed the accept button. "Hi Florence! You're on speaker with me and Michael." Emma told her. "Michael! Are you alright? Your mummy said you weren't feeling well." She asked, and Michael nodded.

"I was hot and then dad took me to the doctor and then the doctor put washcloths on my head and gave me a sticker." He told her. "What kind of sticker?" She added. "Spider man! I haven't put it on yet. I'm gonna put it on my Spider-Man pajamas so they match." He shared. "That's cool! We all miss you over here. Timmy and I miss playing hide and seek with you. You need to come back once you're feeling all better." She explained.

"Yeah! Mummy when do I get to go back?" He asked her. "If you're feeling better tomorrow you get to go home, and then maybe you can go back on set." She told him, and he nodded. "Mummy said once I'm better I can come back!" He told Florence, making her laugh because she had heard Emma as well and they had said two completely different things. "Okay! Well feel better Michael, I need my bestest friend to come back and visit me!" She exclaimed, and he nodded.

"Okay!" He cheered. "Say goodnight to Flo, you need to go to bed." Emma whispered to him. "Mummy says I need to go to bed! Goodnight Flo!" He shared. "Goodnight Michael! Feel better!" She said before hanging up.

Florence and Michael had bonded and became best friends according to Michael when him and (Y/n) came to visit Emma for a week and saw her on set.

He also got to talk to his grandparents, Emma's mum and dad. They had called when they found out he was in the hospital. Once they finished up with their phone calls, Emma read Michael one last story.

"Okay, go to bed and when you wake up tomorrow, we get to go home." She whispered, stroking his hair. He yawned and closed his eyes, mumbling a quick goodnight. "Goodnight Michael, I love you." She whispered, pressing a soft kiss on his forehead. He was already asleep by then, and Emma just sat and watched him.

Over the night Emma hadn't gotten any sleep, opting to make sure Michael was sleeping well instead. The next morning came quickly, and Michael's fever had vanished. He was all good to go, and the family went home that morning. He felt much better, and he spent the day outside in the pool.
