Emma was cooking breakfast and Michael was sitting behind her in his highchair. He was already pretty hungry and kept lifting up his plate, indicating he wanted his food. Emma didn't see it however, since her back was turned. He whined for a second, and Emma was quick to soothe him, assuring him the food was almost ready.

"Just a few more minutes baby, and then the food is ready." Emma told him, kissing the top of his head and going back to the food. Michael was still impatient, and he didn't like that he didn't have his mother's attention anymore. So, he decided he would get her attention once again.

"Mama!" Michael shouted, trying to get his mother's attention. Emma stopped what she was doing and turned around, shocked at what had just happened. That was Michael's first word.

"What did you say baby?" Emma asked, picking him up out of the highchair. "Mama!" He repeated, and Emma squealed before she kissed all over his face while he giggled and laughed at his mother. "Mama!" He said again, only making Emma happier.

(Y/n) walked into the kitchen to see Michael repeating his first word over and over, all while Emma was laughing and kissing all over his face. "Well what is going on here?" (Y/n) asked, making himself known. "Michael said his first word! Say it again baby, say mama." Emma told (Y/n) and directing the last sentence to Michael. "Mama!" Michael yelled, and Emma smiled brighter. (Y/n) smiled as well and walked over to the two.

(Y/n) took Michael out of Emma's arms and held him before speaking again. "Okay Michael, now say dada." (Y/n) told him. "Mama." He said, and (Y/n) shook his head. "No, say dada." He repeated, and Michael said mama once again. "Michael, say dada. Dada." He clarified in case Michael didn't understand what he was supposed to say. "Mama!" He said again. "I give up. Em, take your son." (Y/n) decided and found out Emma was laughing at them the entire time. She took Michael from (Y/n) and sat him back down before she finished making breakfast.

Once everyone's breakfast was ready, they all ate together with Michael repeating his first word every chance he could, and Emma smiled each time she heard it, while (Y/n) was still mad Michael wouldn't say dada.

"Okay Michael, let's try this again, just one more time. Say dada." (Y/n) told Michael, and Emma just watched. Michael sat there for a second before talking. "Mama!" He shouted, and Emma smiled and (Y/n) tried his best to look mad, but then broke out into a smile. "Even if he won't say dada, at least he can say something." (Y/n) decided, and Emma nodded. "Say it again Michael." Emma told him, and he shouted the word mama one more time, putting a smile on both of their faces.

The rest of the day Michael wouldn't stop saying mama, and everyone was happy he had said his first word. Emma had many videos of him saying mama, and she shared them with her family, Florence, and Bonnie, and everyone had loved the videos.

Florence had told Emma she was determined to get Michael to say Flo, and Emma agreed to take him to set with her so she could see him soon. It was a very happy day for everyone, and (Y/n) couldn't wait for Michael to finally say dada.
