When Emma was coming back home from a movie premiere, a car was speeding towards her and wasn't able to stop in time, their car hitting hers. After that, everything had changed, and not for the better.
Both Michael and (Y/n) were crushed. Michael didn't leave his room and neither did (Y/n), but there was one difference. (Y/n) left his room to eat, but Michael did not.
Michael was destroyed by the news that his mother had died in a car accident. It took him until the funeral before he finally believed it. His mother was gone and she wasn't coming back. He felt empty.
One time when (Y/n) was getting something to eat Michael snuck in his room and stole all the family photo albums just to see his mother's face again. She was in every single photo in those books, and each time he saw her face he cried because she was never coming back. He didn't even get to say goodbye. When he watched every movie she was in, he would tear up whenever she came on screen, because nothing was the same without his mother, and he most certainly was not.
Nobody could get (Y/n) to leave the house, and they couldn't get Michael to leave his room. Florence and Bonnie came over at one point to get him to eat, and even Florence couldn't get him go come out of his room. So, they left the food outside his door and hoped he would take it. When they returned an hour later and saw the food in the exact same spot, they knew they needed to tell (Y/n).
"(Y/n), can you come out please?" Florence asked, knocking on his bedroom door. "No! Leave me alone!" He shouted, his voice all scratchy and hoarse. "Please, we really need you. It's about Michael." Bonnie told him, and he opened the door. "Why? Is Michael okay?" He asked frantically. "No, he hasn't left his room once. At all. We don't think he's been eating either." Florence told him.
"I'll go talk to him." He told the two girls and went to Michael's door. "Michael? Can I come in?" (Y/n) asked gently, and Michael opened the door. They sat on his bed together, and (Y/n) just gave him a hug while he cried. "I know, I know you miss her." He whispered. "I just want her back." Michael told him, and he nodded. "I know, I do too." He agreed, and Michael continued to just cry, and soon enough (Y/n) couldn't hold it in anymore and cried as well.
Florence and Bonnie had left the house by now, giving the two some time to themselves. Michael and (Y/n) spent the rest of the day making brownies in Emmas honor, and Michael finally ate some food for the first time in a couple of days. It was going to be hard, and Michael and (Y/n) had to move on eventually, but for now they were going to try their best to be there for eachother and get through this together.
