(Y/n) had recently gotten the Christmas tree for this year, and Michael couldn't wait to put the decorations up. He loved putting on the ornaments, even though he only put them at the front of the tree and Emma and (Y/n) had to move them around after he was finished.
Today while Michael was at school (Y/n) and Emma took out the boxes of ornaments and set them out for Michael to put up once he gets home from school.
Once Michael got in the car, starting his Christmas break, he immediately started asking questions. "Mummy can we put up the Christmas tree ornaments now?" He asked, and Emma nodded. "The ornaments are all ready to be put up! Once you finish your homework then you can start decorating. And I'll help you with your work so it won't take too long." She told him, and he nodded.
Once they got home and Michael finished his homework it was finally time to put up the Christmas ornaments. He opened up all the boxed and started to get to work. "Mummy! Come help!" He told Emma, pulling her over to the Christmas tree hand handing her an ornament. Together the two started to decorate the tree while (Y/n) made hot chocolate for everyone.
Emma made sure to put up all the handmade ornaments that Michael had made in his kindergarten class this year, while he put up his favorite ones in the center of the tree. Once the hot chocolate was ready (Y/n) brought it out for everyone. Michael had to wait a bit for his to cool down and continued to put his favorite ornaments up.
"I put the snoopy one on the front!" He told his parents, pointing at where the ornament lied in a cluster of other ornaments all crammed together. "Michael, you need to space them out. Put some up top and some on the bottom, not all in one place." Emma told him, helping him move them.
"Can I have my hot chocolate now?" He asked, and his father nodded. He drank some of it quickly before going back to his decorating. He finished his decorating quickly and all that was left was to put the star on top.
"We need to do the star!" He told his parents, pointing to the top of the tree. "We need to do that. Do you want to put it up top?" (Y/n) asked him, and he nodded. Michael grabbed the star from one of the boxes and (Y/n) lifted him up so he was tall enough to reach the top of the tree. "Go on Michael, put it up." (Y/n) told him, and he placed the star on top of the tree quickly with a huge smile on his face. (Y/n) put him back down and saw that Emma had recorded the entire moment between the father and son and sent it to her and (Y/n)'s families.
Now that their Christmas tree was all decorated, they decided to watch Christmas movies. They all had dinner and Michael got ready for bed, then went to watch the polar express, Michael all wrapped up in his Spider-Man blanket. Emma knew he was going to fall asleep while watching the movie, so she made him get ready for bed first so she didn't have to worry about having to wake him up and making him brush his teeth and put on his pajamas.
Michael ended up sharing his blanket with his parents and they all cuddled together while watching the movie. Not even a half hour into the movie Michael was asleep while nestled into Emma's side, her arm wrapped around him while rubbing his back.
While (Y/n) cleaned up the boxes and put them all away, Emma took Michael up to bed. Once they both finished their tasks they cuddled up in bed together, Christmas music playing softly in the background. Everyone was truly in the Christmas spirit.
