Emma and (Y/n) were in the car, driving Michael to school. It was his first day of kindergarten, and Emma was freaking out. She wasn't scared he was going, she just thought he was growing up too fast. "Okay, do you have everything you need? Your lunchbox, backpack, crayons, everything? Do you have everything?" Emma asked, going over all his stuff. "It's in my backpack!" Michael told her, showing off his Spider-Man backpack. That was his favorite part of school, he got to have a Spider-Man backpack and lunchbox. They walked up to the classroom and stopped outside the door.

"Okay Michael, always listen to your teacher and be nice to the other kids." Emma instructed. "You're going to have so much fun. And we'll be back to pick you up before you know it!" (Y/n) added, before Emma gave Michael a big hug. "Have fun, okay? Love you!" Emma told him, and he nodded. "Bye mummy! Love you!" Michael called out, running back and giving her another hug before going back to his father, and (Y/n) took Michael inside, while Emma waited for him to come out. She was forbidden to enter the classroom, because if she was let in she would never leave. (Y/n) took Michael inside instead of her, while Emma waited outside of the classroom.

Once (Y/n) came out of the room, Emma started tearing up. "Why are you crying? You're picking him up in like four hours." He commented, and Emma sniffled. "It's his first day of school ever! He's growing up! It's a mum thing, you wouldn't understand!" She told him, a few tears escaping her eyes.

When they got home, Emma walked into the living room and took out stacks of old photo albums, from the day Michael was born until now. She looked through each one, starting with when he was born and leading up to the most recent one. She spent a good two hours looking at them before she made lunch for herself and (Y/n). The two ate lunch together, before (Y/n) had to go read over a new script. Emma walked into her home office, trying to distract herself and focus on her new campaign.

Another few hours later, it was nearly time to pick Michael up. She and (Y/n) got into the car and drove back to the school, waiting for Michael to be finished. Once Michael saw his parents, he ran over to them. Emma picked up Michael and gave him another big hug, not letting him go. Once she needed to put him down, Michael hugged (Y/n) next. "How was it? Did you make any friends?" He asked, and Michael started talking all about his day. "Lots of friends! And we got to read stories and draw!" He shared, getting in the car. The car ride was spent talking all about his day, a smile never leaving Emma's face. She was happy Michael had fun, even though he was growing up. As long as he liked school, she was happy.
