Emma had taken a new movie role that allowed her to stay in LA with her family. However, she hadn't spent much time with her family, making Michael feel sad.

"Mummy? Wanna play with my Spider-Man? Please?" He asked, handing her the action figure. She put it down on the table and turned back to Michael. "Sorry baby, I have to go to work. We can play with him tomorrow on our special day. I promise." She apologized and kissed his cheek before leaving the house, not even saying a goodbye. Their special day was always on Saturdays, which were mother son days. She had already missed three in a row due to her work, but she wasn't going to miss this one because she had promised she wouldn't.

Michael grabbed his toy and went to where (Y/n) was and decided to play with him. "Daddy? Wanna play with Spider-Man?" He asked again, and (Y/n) looked confused. "Didn't you want to ask mummy to play?" (Y/n) asked him, and Michael nodded. "She said she had to go to work." He mumbled while moving the action figures arms around in his hands.

This wasn't the first time she said no to playing with him while working on this movie. Lately she would leave before he woke up and come back after he had gone to bed. Emma wanted to spend time with him, but she always had to be at work to film her movie.

(Y/n) sighed before agreeing to play with Spider-Man with Michael and the two had fun together. Michael still missed his mother, but in his mind it was clear she had chosen work over him.

Once Emma got home from filming, Michael had been asleep for a few hours. (Y/n) was already in bed watching Tv, and Emma wasn't in the mood to talk.

Instead, she just went to bed without saying a word to (Y/n), who had stayed up to wait for her so they could talk like how they used to before going to bed. He sighed in disappointment before turning over and going to bed as well.

The next day Emma was gone before anyone else woke up. Once Michael woke up, he went to his parents room to wake up his mother. Today was his favorite day. Saturdays were Michael and Emma's mother and son day, and she had missed the last few, but she promised she would go to this one.

"Mummy?" Michael asked, but she wasn't there. "Mummy went to work Michael." (Y/n) told him, a hint of sadness in his voice because he knew it was their special day. "But today's Saturday! We always go to the park on Saturday!" He told his father, who nodded. "We can still go to the park." He offered, but Michael refused. "But I want to go with mummy! She promised to play with me!" He yelled, and (Y/n) nodded. Michael's anger had turned to sadness and he now was crying because his mother had chosen work over their special day. (Y/n) pulled Michael into his arms and gave him a hug while he cried.

"Mummy wont play with me anymore! She always leaves!" Michael told his father, and he agreed because he was telling the truth, Emma had chosen work over him many times now. "I don't like it." He added. "I don't either." (Y/n) agreed, making a mental note to call Emma and give her a stern lecture.

After a few minutes Michael's mood had brightened a tiny bit when (Y/n) made him pancakes. While he was eating, (Y/n) decided to give Emma a call and start his lecture. He figured that if he called now there would be time for her to leave early and still spend the day with Michael.

"(Y/n)? You know not to call me during takes, what do you want?" She asked, bitterly. "I just wanted to let you know that you are missing your mother son day with Michael, who was very excited to go to the park with you. You know, the one you promised him you would be here for today?" He brought up.

"You know I have to film, as much as I want to I can't be there for every mother son day." She excused with a bit of hesitation. "Well I know that of course, you've already missed three, and Michael spent the morning crying because you had promised to go to this one and now you're not here. All he wants is to spend time with you, but you're never here!" He scolded, and Emma felt tears forming in her eyes after hearing she made Michael cry.

She never liked it when Michael cried, but knowing she was the reason for his tears was much sadder. "Tell me Emma, what was the point of staying in LA to film if you weren't going to be spending time with your family anyway? Wasn't the whole reason you demanded to stay here because you wanted to be with your family? You barely see Michael and I, how is that spending time with family?" He asked, and Emma didn't say anything in response and just hung up the phone.

She had really screwed up. She made her son, who she loved more than anything, cry because she had broke a promise to him. She had also messed up so badly (Y/n) didn't call her Em anymore. She didn't think she minded that, but she liked having (Y/n) call her Em much more than Emma. Everyone calls her Emma, but only (Y/n) calls her Em. It was special to her. Knowing she had hurt both (Y/n) and Michael's feelings, there was only one way to fix it.

She needed to go and make things right, and that's exactly what she was going to do.

Emma ran off of set and into her car and drove home, trying to think of an apology for both Michael and (Y/n). She got home in record time and went inside the house immediately. When she walked into the kitchen, Michael and (Y/n) were having their pancakes, and Emma could see the tear streaks on Michael's cheeks.

"Hi." She broke the silence between them once they noticed she was there. Michael didn't run into her arms like he always would, and that broke Emma's heart because it meant he wasn't excited she was home. "I have an apology to make." Emma told them. "You do." (Y/n) stated, craning his head in Michael's direction. Emma nodded before going over to Michael and sitting next to him.

"I'm sorry I forgot about our special day. It will never happen again and I love you very much." She apologized and kissed Michael's cheek. "You never play with me anymore. I don't like it." He mumbled, looking away from her and nestling into his father side, something he used to do with her. That small action made her feel worse than she already felt, and she continued her apology.

"I know, and I'm very sorry. But I'm back now and we can play all day. And I'll play with you whenever you want me to. I promise." She continued her apology. "Pinky promise?" He asked and held out his pinky. "Pink promise." She confirmed with a smile and placed her pinky around his.

Once they finished their pinky promise she gave him a gentle hug, before he hugged her even tighter, showing he accepted her apology and she kissed his cheek while holding him tight.

"And now I owe you an apology. I'm sorry I've been neglecting our family. I've just been so busy with filming and getting back into it I forgot what was most important, you two." She apologized to (Y/n). "And I promise to spend more time with both of you, because I'd much rather spend time with you instead of filming all day." She continued, and (Y/n) pressed his lips on hers as a sign of forgiveness. They shared a kiss together before they pulled away for air, all while Michael was still hugging Emma tightly.

"Want to go to the park Michael?" She asked, and he nodded. "Yeah!" He agreed. The two went to the park together for their mother son day, and Emma promised to spend more time with her family, one she didn't break after that.

(Had to add a bit of drama to the book! I hope you enjoyed!)
