Emma and (Y/n) were attending Al Gore's climate change conference, and luckily Michael didn't have school or sports that weekend so he got to go with them.

Emma was talking to Al and they were taking pictures for Emma's Instagram while Michael was just watching and sometimes being the photographer along with (Y/n).

"When does the conference actually start?" (Y/n) asked. "Not for another few hours." Emma told the two, and they groaned. "Michael, let's go do something fun while we wait." (Y/n) told him, and the two left the conference to go shopping. Their first stop was a GameStop located inside of a mall not too far from the conference building.

After picking up a few games the two went to get some new shoes. Michael ended up getting a pair of white converse shoes and (Y/n) didn't see any he liked. He eventually found some nikes he liked and then the two moved onto the next store.

"What if we both just bought new phones?" (Y/n) blurted out as they walked past the Apple store. The iPhone 13 had just come out, and every Apple store had them. "No way... actually?" Michael responded, and (Y/n) nodded. They went inside the store and picked out the phones before leaving, and getting a good deal on new AirPod pros "Oh my god." Michael whispered, holding up the bag. "Your mum might kill me." (Y/n) realized, and Michael nodded. "Maybe." He agreed. They went inside another store and bought a few shirts and pants before they had to go back to the conference.

"Let's put all this stuff in the car so we don't have to carry it around, and so your mum doesn't find out who much we got." (Y/n) told Michael. "Good idea." He agreed. The two put all of their bags in the trunk of the car and hid the Apple bag under all of their stuff. The two walked back inside and met back up with Emma, who was still talking to Al.

"How was your outing?" Emma asked, seeing the two walk back in. "It was good." Michael answered. They took their seats and the conference started soon after. Emma was called up to make her speech and it went really well, and Michael and (Y/n) were right up front cheering her on.

Once they left the conference, all (Y/n) and Michael had to worry about was making sure Emma didn't see all the stuff they bought. Michael brought Emma inside while (Y/n) got all the bags out. "Michael? What did you two do?" Emma asked, giving him an angry look. "Nothing! We didn't do anything and we certainly didn't get the new phones!" He stuttered, and Emma went wide eyed. "You did what?" She asked, and Michael went wide eyed. "Um, we didn't buy the new phones!" He tried, until (Y/n) walked in with all the bags.

"Shoot." He whispered, Emma seeing the bags. "Explain. Now." She stated, glaring at both of them. "Well, when we left we saw a mall and went shopping." (Y/n) told her, and she grabbed the Apple bag. "Seriously? New phones and headphones? Michael both your phone and headphones work perfectly fine and these are like one thousand dollars!" She told him, and he nodded. "Dad asked if I wanted the new phone and I didn't think he was actually serious. But then he actually bought them and we got free AirPods with them." Michael explained.

"And what are in the other bags?" She asked again. "Shoes and new clothes." (Y/n) answered. "You know, this was supposed to be a conference about climate change, not a shopping trip." Emma scolded. "Technically the conference hadn't started when we bought them." Michael defended, and Emma glared at him and he shut his mouth. She left the room and went to go read her book, needing to calm herself down. Michael and (Y/n) exchanged a guilty look, and Michael had an idea to make it up to her.

"Mum! Do you want the new phone?" He offered, and she gave him a skeptical look. "Well you said my iPhone works perfectly fine and that's true, but yours is like five years old and can't be on for more than an hour before the battery runs out. So you can have this one and the headphones." He offered. "Thank you." She hugged him, and took the bag. He smiled at her and grabbed the rest of his bags before going upstairs and putting everything away.

(Y/n) helped Emma set up her new phone and eventually she had decided she liked this one much better than her old one. In the end, she was still a bit mad that the two spent so much money, but she got a new phone and new headphones so she was fine with it.
