Michael, (Y/n) and Emma were all going to their vacation house for the summer. Michael was going to start kindergarten once the summer was over, so they decided to go on a vacation so that they had lots of fun together as a family before school started.
Currently, Michael and (Y/n) were playing with a baseball. They both were having fun until (Y/n) accidentally threw it into the forest. "Wait here Michael. I'll go get it." He told his son, but Michael stopped him. "I wanna go get it!" He objected, and (Y/n) let him go. "Alright, but don't go too far. If you can't find it come back out here and I'll go look for it." He instructed and Michael nodded. "Okay!" He agreed.
So, he went into the forest to go look for his baseball. He searched around the parts of the woods where he could still see the house, but ended up going father than he should have.
After about five minutes, Michael decided to give up and just have his father look for it. He turned around and was about to walk away, until a twig snapped behind him. He turned back around to see a creature. "Hello? Can you talk?" He asked, not knowing if this was a human or not.
It wasn't anything he had seen before. This creature was a bit taller than him, was brown and hairy, and was very muscular. It definitely scared him, and when he went to back away, he had tripped over a rock and fell, scraping his knee.
At this point Michael didn't know what to do, so he just sat there and tried to get back up. Before he had the chance to run away, the creature lied down, nudging the ball over to him. "Thank you!" Michael told the creature, still not knowing what it is, but he was happy he had his ball back.
The creature barked, and Michael realized it was a dog. "You're a doggy! Maybe mummy will let me keep you!" He told the dog, who just barked as a response. Michael got back up and led the dog out of the forest, meeting back up with his father.
"What happened?" (Y/n) asked, seeing Michael walk out of the forest with one of his knees scraped up and bleeding. "I went into the forest to find the ball! And then I found a doggy!" He told his father, showing him the ball and the dog. The dog barked, and (Y/n) pet the top of the dogs head "Can we keep him? Pleaseee?" Michael asked, trying his best puppy eyes. "Ask mummy." (Y/n) responded, and he nodded.
The dog sat down next to Michael, and watched as him and (Y/n) resumed their game of catch. Emma walked outside to see the two of them playing catch, and a mysterious dog lying next to them. "Where did the dog come from?" She asked, making herself known.
"Mummy! I found him in the forest! Can we keep him? Please?" He asked her, going over and hugging her legs tightly. "Maybe.." She responded, not making a decision just yet. Maybe the dog would go back into the forest, but maybe it wouldn't. She didn't know, and she certainly didn't want to get Michael's hopes up.
The three went back inside for dinner, the dog staying outside and sleeping on the back porch. "Michael, what happened to your knee?" Emma asked him, seeing the scrape on his knee. "I fell in the forest." He mumbled, seeing the dog still sleeping outside.
"Come here, let me put a band aid on it." She told him, and he walked over to her. She washed the cut with a washcloth before putting a Spider-Man band aid on it. "There. All better." She smiled at him before kissing his cheek, and he nodded.
Emma went back to finish making dinner and they all ate their food, Michael glancing outside to see if the dog was still there every so often. Emma and (Y/n) shared a look, knowing Michael was already very attached to the dog. "Michael, go let the dog inside." Emma told him, giving in and letting him keep it. The dog clearly had no intention on leaving, and Michael already loved that dog. "Yay! Thank you mummy!" He cheered, giving her a hug and kissing her cheek. He went and opened the door, the dog walking inside.
Michael had a lot more fun with the dog, who he named brownie because the dog was brown, by his side. Emma and (Y/n) were happy he had a friend to play with now, and everyone's mood had been much happier. It was a good thing (Y/n) threw the ball into the woods.
