Newbie (Bucky x Reader)

Recon mission

"Dad?" you demanded. "You were just here this morning" you rolled your eyes and pulled open the door.
"How was your date?" he asked going over to your couch and sitting down.
"Got stood up again" you shrugged, grabbing another fork to share your desert with him. "Don't act like you didn't know"
"He doesn't know what he's missing" he took a bite of your tiramisu.
"Sure" you snorted.
"I got a message from Tony, you agreed to go since he lifted the restriction" he put his arm around behind you.
"He sent Bucky" you smirked. "He got a cat" you added with a smile.
"He's a good man, now that his heads been straightened out" he nodded. "Don't tell him I said that" he added.
"Well, he did try to kill you" you shrugged. "Under mind control"
"I still hold it against him" he looked at you.
"I don't" you grinned.
"Please tell me no more dates for a while. You're going to have your hands full with Avenger training and I can't keep up with the background checks" he teased.
"I still have that recon tomorrow" you reminded him.
"I can cancel it so you can pack up. You leaving isn't going to stop our Sunday breakfasts" he warned you.
"I'd rather do my mission. The data is always important" you shrugged. "I do need a full night's sleep for it though dad"
"Alright, but I want my report before you start moving" he sighed. "Don't you have any beer?"
"In the fridge, go get it" you knew you were the only one that could boss him around like that. He got up and went to help himself. You finished the tiramisu and brought Daisy up closer onto your lap. "Can you watch Daisy for me while I'm gone again?" you asked gently.
"Of course, only because I love you kid" he took a sip of his beer. "You'll do well with the Avengers" he added. "I didn't want you anywhere near them, what they do is dangerous. Then again, what you do for Shield is dangerous"
"I'm mentally prepared" you gave a small smile. "I hope they are prepared for me"
"Kid, no one is prepared for you" he chuckled. "But you'll win them over, just like you did to me"
"I was eight" you chuckled.
"It had nothing to do with that. It had everything to do with who you are as a person. You are a strong, beautiful, funny, intelligent woman. Always have been. I'm damn proud to have you as my daughter" Fury ruffled your hair. "I love ya kid"
"I hope so, because I love you too dad" you smiled.

When you got up in the morning, you hurriedly changed to get ready for work. You went with your normal Shield uniform, and put your hair in a bun with light makeup. Maria let herself into your quarters with her own key and stood to the side waiting while you put on your holsters.
"I'll bring Daisy up to your dad, I'll meet you at the jet" she handed you a coffee which you badly needed. You loaded up your guns and knives before heading to the door. You grabbed your phone, and locked up behind you.
When you got to the jet, you strapped in and waited patiently on Maria while sipping your coffee. You decided since she was so nice to bring Daisy up to the office, you were going to fly out. You input the co-ordinates and waited patiently. You heard footsteps coming in, and turned around to see Bucky and Steve Rogers strapping in.
"What the hell?" you raised an eyebrow.
"Good morning doll" Bucky gave a flirty smile.
"What are you two doing here?" you felt so confused.
"Getting to see our new team mate in action" Steve grinned.
"No, what's the real reason?" you crossed your arms.
"We need the data from the base as well, figured we could team up. Fury approved it already" Steve answered with a small smile. "Maria was just being updated before we came onboard"
"Alright" you turned back to the console and heard Maria walk in. "Hey babe" you called to her.
"No, no stupid shit on this mission. I don't want to hear babe once" Maria took her spot beside you. "Daisy is with Fury" she started strapping in. "Avengers needed the data too, they have their own data stick to give you while you go in"
"I have a favor to ask" you closed the back hatch, and started up the jet. "No more blind dates, or else I will be calling you babe again"
"What about Bryan from legal?" she ignored you.
"No" you sighed.
"What's wrong with him?" she demanded.
"You set me up with him three months ago, he left halfway through dinner" you rolled your eyes. "No more dates. I'll meet someone when I'm ready."
"I'm not listening to you" she shook her head.
"Once I start at the Avengers compound I wont have time for your antics" you grumbled.
"With dating, don't you need a spark? There's a dance to these things" Bucky called up from the back.
"Thank you!" you said as you threw the jet on autopilot, and unbuckled. "There needs to be chemistry"
"No, you need to get laid" Maria sighed getting out of her seat and you both headed to the back where the other two were unbuckling.
"No, no I don't" you flushed, grabbing the schematics that you needed and putting them on one of the tables.
"What's the plan?" Steve came over with Bucky while you studied the base design.
"We have 18 hours to get in and get out. I don't have that patience to wait too long to get in. The inside might have changed, meaning the inside could be potentially a maze" you admitted. "We need to check to see what it looks like with how many guards there are"
"You are not going to play hostage again" Maria shook her head.
"It's the fastest way in" you grinned. "Besides, last time worked out"
"Didn't you get shot?" Steve looked at you seriously.
"After I escaped" you nodded. "Not worried about it. Doctor Cho is pretty good at patching me up"
"Lets try to do this without anyone getting shot" Bucky bit his bottom lip looking at you worriedly.

As soon as you landed the jet the four of you made the way towards the base as stealthily as possible. You noticed that Bucky and Steve were watching your backs, while you and Maria kept an eye to the side and the front. You saw the opening of the base coming up and hid more into the trees. You jumped up grabbing a branch and took a seat looking at the guard movements and studying when they moved and when the switch up came. You studied to see how many potentially were inside. You put in your earphones while you watched closely, staying close to the tree trunk and forgetting about the others that were with you. You kept an eye on the time to see when the guards would change, and how often. You would have a forty five second window from the tree to the door before you would be seen. You counted a possible five bodies inside. It wouldn't be that hard to take them down if you had to. You would try to remain stealthy, but you knew that only one person would make it in. You were faster than Maria. You flipped yourself backwards when you knew you only had about a minute before the next change over. You saw Bucky look at you and give a smirk putting out a hand to help you down but you shook your head and let your legs go doing a flip to the ground. You took out your earphones and grinned.
"You weren't listening to a thing we said, were you?" Maria asked, crossing her arms.
"God no" you shook your head. "Only one of us can make it in. Gimme your data stick" you held out your hand to Steve and he looked confused. He slowly handed it to you. You took it and stuck it in your bra. You took out your guns and handed them to Maria.
"This is not a moment to pull a babe" Maria shook her head.
"Babe, I've got this" you winked. You watched as the guards started changing spots and ran at full speed to the door. You heard footsteps behind you and saw Bucky was with you. "What are you doing?" you demanded.
"Helping" he grinned as you pulled open the door and slipped in, with him right behind you. You took a step back into him and felt him pull you close as you listened carefully to the hallway. "How many?" he whispered to you.
"Potentially five plus" you whispered back. You were enjoying being so close to him, but you had work to do. You took a few careful steps and crouched down looking into the doors. You didn't see anyone yet, but you could hear movement down the hallway. You took out your knife and flipped your hand getting your powers ready. You heard Bucky unsheathe his knives behind you. You went to a corner and used your blade as a mirror to check the hallway. You saw three soldiers coming with their guns ready. You must have tripped a silent alarm and not realized it. You held up three fingers to Bucky and saw him nod in your peripherals. You let your water ability seep onto the ground making a puddle, then froze it quickly seeing them slip, one of them losing balance completely and falling. He shot one of his partners by accident and he fell over dead. You winced with the fact that the gunshot made such a loud noise. You heard several more feet coming your way. You pushed yourself around the corner and threw your knives at the remaining two men. You looked away as they went down to the ground.
"I hear more than five" Bucky whispered to you.
"We don't have enough time" you recalled your ice and started running down the hallway as quietly as you could and found the control room you were looking for. You heard more footsteps as Bucky closed the door behind you. You went to the computer and put in the first data stick and started hacking your way into the mainframe.
"How long" he was suddenly behind you, and you could feel his breath on your neck.
"Its not exactly something I can time" you looked over your shoulder and found yourself looking into his eyes. They were a beautiful blue, and you felt your heart start pounding. He looked down at your lips then back up to your eyes. You licked your lips unintentionally and he dropped his gaze to them again.
"I'm going to watch the door" his voice came out raspy.
"Good idea" you went back to the computer, hacking your way in. It took at least five more minutes to get into the mainframe. You started downloading the data which was taking longer than it took to get into the mainframe. You flinched knowing that you would have to download it twice.
"Y/N?" Bucky whispered.
"I need more time" you whispered back.
"How long?" he seemed hurried.
"I'm not done downloading the first drive yet, we need two" you looked at him worriedly. "How long do we have?"
"Get on the floor" he moved the tower to the floor and the computer monitor. You ducked down, and he touched your shoulder before flipping the table so it was hiding you from the door. "Its going to get loud doll" he warned you and stood beside the door. You saw him take out his gun and get it ready to shoot. You finished the one drive and slipped in the second one starting the download and stuffing the first drive between your breasts. "That's distracting doll" he whispered to you.
"Eyes and ears on the door" you reminded him. "Besides, you're distracting" you blushed and saw him lick his top lip and give a grin.
