Newbie (Bucky x Reader)

The thought of someday

Bucky was pretty happy with himself, as he looked around. He felt like he was on cloud nine as he caught up with Dean, and Morgan. He was enjoying being able to be himself while talking to them, and he kept looking over at the old house and reminiscing about how he would come home from work and you were always there for him. He thought about how you would always take the time to kiss him before he would leave for work. He had really loved the domestic life, and wished that he could give that back to you. Initially he wanted the mission because it meant that you two would get some time away together, and just be a couple. It turned out the mission had shown him a life he ultimately wanted someday.
"Tin man is always doting on his girl" Sam's voice cut into Bucky's thoughts and he took a drink of his beer and came back to the conversation.
"We really thought they had been married for years, they were like newly weds though" Dean grinned. He seemed to really get along with Sam. Morgan was in a separate conversation with Steve and Tony, and seemed to be having a good time. Thor had already gone through six bottles of beer and was jovially talking about some of the missions that the team had been on. The more he drank, the more he would talk about the nine realms, and how different it was here on Earth compared to Asgard.
"We quite frankly wondered if they had faked the pregnancy, since she grew so fast, once we found out who they were" Morgan clued into the conversation.
"Really? We didn't. Laura was in love with her belly, and kept talking about her cravings" Dean chuckled.
"Strawberries,and strawberry cupcakes" Bucky smirked to himself.
"What's it like being back at work?" Dean asked him softly.
"We miss it here" Bucky gave a soft smile. "Never really thought that either of us would want the domestic life. You guys had us both sold on the idea"
"We sure will miss having you on our Saturday parties" Morgan grinned. "We know you won't be able to make it out that much"
"We plan on keeping up the farmer's market, only back home" Bucky nodded. "But we will miss it here too. Really going to miss the house and the rose garden. Y/N was so happy with her garden"
"What's so special about the house?" Tony asked curiously.
"It became a home" Bucky shrugged. "It became our home." he added gently.
"We watched on the camera's, it did seem you both did well in a domestic setting. We even talked about sending you on another mission like this one. Perhaps after the children are born" Vision suggested.
"I don't see either of us taking on long missions once the children are born. We wouldn't want to go anywhere without them" he admitted barely above a whisper.
"Yeah, you're a family man now" Sam smiled happily.
"It's still surreal" Bucky shook his head.
"I can't say any of us were surprised by the pregnancy" Tony chuckled.
"We aren't that bad" Bucky blushed.
"No, of course not. Just everyone knew every time it was private time" Tony clapped him on the shoulder.
"So we weren't the only victims," Dean laughed. "They left the windows open twice"
"That was my fault, I was supposed to close the windows at night" Bucky had the good sense to flush a bit. "It's a good thing she always calls me James regardless" he chuckled a bit.
"No worries, man. It just sold that you were a loving couple" Morgan chuckled himself. "Ron complained about it, and asked if I could come over and ask you two to keep it down. I didn't bother"
"It's because of you that we ended up in your neighborhood" Tony pointed to Morgan.
"I didn't think Shield would take me seriously to be honest. But I had seen some of them guns floating around at the gun range, and they didn't look right. No one would tell me who sold them, even when I confiscated them" Morgan shook his head.

"It came across Y/N's dad's desk, he reached out to us. I think he was hoping Y/N would get the job. He had quite a scare shortly after she started with us, and I think he wanted her out of the field for a bit" Steve smirked.
"You know, the prisoners are still screaming about the ice demon after that mission? Heard it from one of my friends that works on the raft" Sam chuckled.
"I saw her ice butterflies, it's hard to believe she can make something lethal" Dean looked up from his beer.
"She's very lethal, I assure you" Bruce spoke up. "It's fascinating" he added after a moment.
Bucky looked up and saw you coming out from behind the fence and sneaking out with Wanda, Pepper, Maria and Nat close behind you.
"Doll?" Bucky put down his beer when he saw the mischievous look on your face. You looked at him in surprise. Loki looked over the fence and rolled his eyes as Bucky came to you with a huge smile on his face, and he leaned down and kissed you softly on the lips. "What are you up to?" he chuckled.
"We were sneaking out so I could show them the house and rose garden" you fidgeted a little bit.
"You got into the cupcakes again" he chuckled and wiped some frosting off of your cheek.
"Oh for Heaven's sake, we wanted to see the garden. Off we go, come on. You lovebirds can canoodle when we get back" Loki smirked and led you away. You led the girls away, and Bucky stood back smiling to himself.
"You good there Buck?" Steve asked.
"I'm the luckiest man alive" Bucky grinned ear to ear. "Did you see how cute she looks in the new dress?"
"You really are a man in love" Dean chuckled.

When the tea party was over, Laura started crying because she knew she likely wouldn't see you again for a long time. You promised to try to visit again for another tea party, and made sure the girls all had your real phone number so they could call or text you. When you all piled back into the limo's, Bucky stopped to ask the driver to make a stop in town. You held yourself together pretty good, until your house started leaving your eyes field of vision, and you started sobbing.
"Doll" Bucky sighed, and pulled you up on his lap.
"I don't know why I'm crying" you nuzzled into him.
"Hormones" Loki answered for you easily. "I know where we are stopping, I'll go in for you" he looked to Bucky who nodded his thanks. You folded yourself onto Bucky more, and he rubbed your back gently.
"You've ruined your makeup" Wanda sighed, and took out some makeup wipes for you and handed them to you. You used it to wipe your face, afraid of getting anything on your new dress.
"I'll get the stains out, not to worry" Loki whispered to you as you noticed some of your tears with mascara had gotten on your chest. He waved his hand on your dress and the stains vanished. "Now, Lady Y/N, how would you like to have some strawberry cupcakes? Its where we are headed now"
"I want some" you sniffed.
"You need to calm down a bit before you eat" he told you kindly. "It wouldn't do well to continue crying, and upsetting the babies"
"I don't want to upset them" you rubbed your stomach. "I didn't mean to, I just really liked that house" you sniffed and nuzzled back into Bucky again. He held one hand on your stomach, while the other hand continued to soothe your back. The car eventually stopped and Loki got out to go into a store, and came back with three boxes of cupcakes, handing you one. You sniffed again, and opened the box, eating one and giving Bucky one.
"Are they really that good?" Wanda asked with a smile. You wordlessly handed her one and she ate it. She hummed happily and nodded. "I get it now" she decided.
"Aren't they good?" you asked quickly.
"I can see why you are craving them for sure" she nodded.
Getting back to the airport, you had to leave Bucky's embrace to get out and head into the jet. When you got out you looked back at the small town, and thought about all the good memories that you had from the mission. You looked to Bucky and knew he was doing the exact same thing.
"We will have this again someday" Bucky wrapped his arms around you.
"When the Avengers aren't needed" you nodded.
"Maybe sooner" he kissed the top of your head. "Maybe back to a place like this" he held you close.
"Maybe someday" you sighed, and nuzzled into him one last time before you both had to get on the jet.
