Tests

Bucky sat you down, once you were securely in the suite and went about setting up a comfortable spot for you to sit in the living area to work on your report. He went so far as to go grab some extra pillows from the bedroom.
"My love, where are you going to sit?" you finally asked as he was taking up the entire three seater couch with pillows.
"Beside you, on the floor" he seemed to notice he had gone overboard and seemed to be questioning himself.
"On the couch" you corrected him, and started moving some of the pillows out of the way.
"I've got it" he stopped you and started moving things around. He went and grabbed both of your laptops and came back to you. You barely sat down when you heard the suite door open as Loki walked in easily and shut the door behind him. He was carrying a cup of tea with a little saucer under it and brought it to you.
"I thought you would appreciate your tea with honey" he smiled at you proudly. He then went to the fridge and took some strawberries out and started to wash them and stem them. Bucky looked over at him curiously. He put them into a bowl and carried them over, putting them on the end table beside where you were sitting. "Now, I plan to be in here for the day keeping watch. No arguments James" Loki spoke to him softly. "May I have the honor of touching your babies?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Of course Loki" you gave a soft smile. He reached down and his eyes flashed green as he touched your stomach and you felt the flutters almost immediately.
"They are quite strong, and will be very resilient" he decided as he moved his hand along your stomach. "I was wrong, I do detect some frost abilities, but its faint" he frowned a little. "They may yet grow into it" he decided. "Thank you" he pulled back.
"Thank you Loki" you gave a wan smile, and he nodded before turning his form into a cat and jumping up and curling himself on your baby bump. You opened up your laptop and started working on your mission report with the sound of Alpine on the seat across from you, and Loki purring loudly. Bucky seemed to be watching Loki worriedly, but then decided he was okay with it and went on to work on his report as well. Every few minutes you would sip your tea, and then take a strawberry to eat it. You had barely begun to scratch the surface of the mission when you heard Bucky sigh and look at you expectantly.
"It's lunch time, we've been at it for hours and I barely noticed" he admitted.
"I am out of tea" you sighed sadly.
"And you do have tests with Bruce and Tony later" he reminded you.
"I need to go get some maternity clothes, but we can barely find the time" you pouted.
"We will find the time tonight, we will go together" Bucky gave a small smile. Loki jumped off of your stomach and switched back to his human form.
"Shopping, you are not doing that alone" he shook his head. "You need an extra set of eyes to watch out for undesirable attention, the way you two moon over each other. I'm coming as well." he decided with a determined nod.

When you got to lunch Bucky took a moment to fill your plate before he passed the food down to Maria. You blushed at the fact that he was picking up that habit again, but went to concentrate on what you were going to eat. You were pleased that he picked out some of your favorites and passed you the nutella without a word. You reached for the pickles in the center of the table and put some nutella in your plate before dipping your pickles into it. Bruce started typing into his phone quickly.
"Bruce, baby, put your phone away when we are eating" Nat admonished him. "It's not like you'll forget it" she added, raising her eyebrow at you.
"That's going to be stuck in my brain for a while" Wanda looked at you worriedly. "You really seem to like that" she added with her accent coming out thickly.
"I like the sweet and salty. I miss the chocolate covered pretzels that Clint's wife Laura sent me" you munched on your food. Bucky took a few pickles and put them in his plate and ate them slowly. You went to take a bite of potato salad and something about it your tastebuds didn't like. You pushed it to the side, and looked at Bucky with a pout. He seemed to read your mind, and took your plate and slid the potato salad onto his plate before giving it back to you. Bruce took out his phone quickly and you felt a little irritated that he was watching you so closely. You understood he was excited about the pregnancy, but you didn't want to be watched like a hawk.
"I understand you think you are going shopping without us tonight?" Wanda looked at you seriously.
"I just need some maternity clothes" you flushed a little bit.
"We can make time for that" Nat smiled at you.
"I can free up some time on my schedule" Pepper nodded, taking her phone out. "I'm working from home anyways"
"I'm still coming" Bucky announced easily, eating the potato salad. "I don't want her out of the compound too long"
"I'm not made of glass, love" you reminded him with a soft smile.
"You're still pregnant" he reminded you quickly. "I don't want you to do anything unnecessary" he shook his head. You rolled your eyes good naturedly and took some more pickles to eat.
When you were done with your main meal Happy got up and handed you three peach cupcakes on a plate, and you immediately ate two before passing the plate to Bucky who ate the last one without a word.
"How are the mission reports coming?" Steve asked after a long silence.
"We've barely started" Bucky spoke honestly and shrugged with a sigh. "It might take more than two days to complete them" he added. "If you want it as detailed as we are used to, it might take a week"
"Then it takes a week" Steve shrugged. "We aren't worried. There's not a whole lot of missions right now, we hit them pretty hard over the last month, and with your mission as well, we got some of their weapons off of the street." Steve gave a smile and got up to put his dishes away.
"Come on, we have a whole line up ready for you today" Tony smirked and started leading you and Bucky back to the lab. You looked to Bruce curiously, who was already typing into his phone.
"You don't have to stick around" Bruce spoke softly to Bucky who shook his head.
"I'm staying" Bucky shook his head stubbornly. Doctor Cho came into the room and brought over a new machine, you knew was for an ultrasound. Tony gestured for you to get up on the table, and Bucky helped you up on it without a word watching Doctor Cho set up the ultrasound machine. You pulled up your shirt and Doctor Cho put some gel on your stomach, turning on the monitor. You immediately could hear two strong heart beats and saw your forming babies on the screen. Bucky took your hand with a smile,, and continued to gaze at the screen happily.
"They are huge for twins" Doctor Cho announced. "I haven't seen that before. How far along is she?" she asked.
"Three months" you spoke up.
"This is more eighteen weeks" she shook her head at you.
"That's what Loki's been saying" Bucky murmured.
"Can I take some blood samples?" she asked quickly. You nodded and you saw her bring several vials over. Tony pushed the wand around some more, having taken it from Doctor Cho and he was moving it all over your stomach, and looking at the screen curiously. He was pressing down in some places and you moved uncomfortably. He finally took the wand off your stomach and put it down. You were a little sad that you couldn't hear the heart beats or see them anymore. Doctor Cho came back and wiped off your stomach and Bucky pulled your shirt back down as she took your arm and started taking several vials of blood.
"We are going to be testing for several things, so it's going to be a few vials" she spoke easily.
"Alright, now we will be doing our tests" Tony rubbed his hands together and brought over another machine you had never seen before. He put several stickers with wires sticking out of it all over your stomach, and you felt a small electronic pulse coming off of them making you jump.
"What is this?" you demanded in concern.
"We are checking to see if they react" Tony shrugged as if he did nothing wrong.
"It's just a very small wave of electricity" Bruce spoke in a soothing tone.
"The hell you are" Bucky growled and started pulling them off of you and threw them at Tony. "She's not out of the first trimester, and our babies are not some kind of science experiment" he blew up at them. You heard the door open and Steve and Pepper had come running in at how loud Bucky had suddenly started yelling. "You know better than that Tony. The first trimester it's too dangerous to try anything like that"
"So the second trimester it will be okay?" Tony looked a little surprised at his sudden outburst.
"No, it's never going to be okay" Bucky put his arm around you and pulled you up and off the table. "We aren't risking hurting them" he growled.
"Tony Stark" Pepper started storming towards him, and you saw him flinch a bit. "You might be one of the smartest men in the room, but that was stupid" she slapped him. "No wonder Bucky started yelling. You are not pulling that stunt again" she glared at him.

"We didn't mean any harm. We were just checking electromagnetic pulses, just a small zap to the outer areas of the placenta. It's nothing too harmful" Bruce seemed a little sheepish.
"Come on doll" Bucky carried you out of the lab, and brought you back to the bedroom. The small electric shocks made the babies start moving quite a bit, and you could tell they felt pain. You were hyperventilating that they were hurt. Steve shook his head at Tony and started following Bucky towards your suite.
"They felt it James" you looked at Bucky worriedly. "It hurt them" you rubbed your stomach worriedly.
"You're just going to go lay down for a bit. Steve is going to watch you, and I'm going to go get Loki to check on them" Bucky kicked in your suite door and set you on the couch. "Don't let those eggheads near my dame again" he warned Steve before he stormed out.
"Are they okay?" Steve asked worriedly.
"They're moving around a lot" you flinched. Steve put his hand on your stomach timidly and started rubbing your stomach, trying to help you feel better.
"It feels like a flutter" he gave a small smile.
"They keep moving, I'm scared they hurt them" you shook your head hiccuping, with tears falling down your cheeks.
"Let's just wait for Loki, it's going to be okay" Steve promised and looked to the door worriedly. You took his hand and sniffled slightly. Loki came storming in the room a moment later with Bucky close behind him. He went directly to you and put his hands on either side of your stomach and Steve pulled back.
"They are just fine just a little frightened, they feel your worry. They didn't hurt them badly. It was just a small shock" Loki spoke softly and closed his eyes for a moment and you felt the fluttering start to slow down, just like your anxiety started to slow down. "You need to be a little more calm, maybe have a cup of tea, and a little rest" Loki brushed some hair out of your face.
"Were they in danger?" Bucky asked.
"No, just frightened and worried" Loki hesitated before answering. "I'll make sure that machine never sees the light of day again" he got a mischievous look on his face and he walked out of the room.
