Newbie (Bucky x Reader)

Possible sale

You noticed Ron was getting anxious to leave, but you wanted to use this time wisely to buy Bucky some extra time to do a detailed search.
"Stephanie, did you end up getting that information for me to buy my sweet James his new gun or guns?" you started looking over some fruits and picking out some strawberries quickly.
"Ron is hesitant to give up his sources for some reason." Stephanie signed and looked pointedly at her husband.
"Why are you so insistent on getting him a new gun? The man has plenty" Ron gave a good-natured smile.
"It's just... I want to spoil him. I have over a million dollars to spare, just sitting in my bank account. So, I figured I would buy him a gun, and then work on the nursery. Maybe start the college fund early. I wanted to talk to my James about it, but I want to get his gun first" you cooed slightly, really trying to sell it.
"A million, really?" Ron asked in shock before dozing off, seeming deep in thought. "I can get in touch with my contacts and see about it. What kind of gun are you looking for?"
"Something unique, only the best for my James of course. Do you have anything in mind?" you were desperate to keep the conversation going.
"I have a few things, but not exactly something that would be easily registered. It would have to go into a very private collection" Ron gave you a small smile.
"Is it illegal?" you looked at him in surprise.
"No, of course not" Stephanie looked at you. "My husband wouldn't deal in anything illegal"
"It's not illegal" Ron tried to convince you, but you gave a small smile to convince him that you trusted his word.
"As long as it's not illegal" you visibly relaxed for them. "I just want something that James will be pleased with"
"I'll be in touch, I should probably head home" Ron started looking over his shoulder.
"Oh!" you touched your stomach and tried to pull out the best of your acting.
"You should go sit down. Ron, we can't leave her like this'' Stephanie looked at her husband in concern. "Come on honey, let's sit down" she grabbed your arm and led you to a picnic table brushing the bench with her hand before helping you sit down.
"I think it's just the morning sickness" you sat down gratefully holding Stephanie's arm gently.
"Well, we can't leave you here without your James" Ron seemed to like you more now that you had admitted you had a lot of money. He sat down beside you leaning back into the table resting an arm seeming to be more relaxed, while Stephanie seemed to be anxious.
"Did you want something to drink?" Stephanie asked quickly.
"Water, please. Oh... here I have some money" you pulled out your wallet and handed her a ten dollar bill.
"I'll be right back" she stood up quickly and went to one of the food trucks. You texted Bucky quickly, trying to be discreet without Ron catching you that he was running out of time. He sent a thumbs up emoji and you put your phone away.
"Checking in with James?" he asked softly.
"I'm just hoping he comes back soon" you sighed softly. "I had a lot more groceries to pick up" you gave a soft smile.
"You need your rest, maybe you should leave it to James to finish the grocery shopping today." Ron put his hand on your shoulder and you tried really hard not to cringe at the contact.
Stephanie came back with your bottle of water and handed you your change. You gave a soft smile, and thanked her before taking a drink.
"Is it helping?" she asked gently.
"It is, I guess I'm not over the morning sickness yet for today" you gave a small smile and looked over your shoulder hoping to see Bucky.
"Should we get you anything else?" Stephanie asked, seeming very concerned.
"No, I couldn't possibly put either of you out" you shook your head. "I just need to sit down for a moment" you gave a small smile. You looked into your pocket again and looked at your phone again. You could tell Ron was getting antsy to leave, but Stephanie seemed more concerned about you.
"Oh, I think I have some Tylenol, can you take that?" Stephanie asked quickly.
"I don't want to chance it but, thank you for the offer" you shook your head, not wanting to give yourself away either. "I need to just wait for my James. Hopefully he gets here soon" you pulled out your phone again and saw Bucky texted he was on his way back. You bit your bottom lip in anticipation of seeing him, and looking back over your shoulder again. You saw Bucky coming back across the street and hurrying to you with a look of concern on his face.
"Are you okay, my rose?" Bucky got to you and wrapped you securely in his arms.
"Just a little bit of morning sickness again, my love" you snuggled in, enjoying being enveloped in his warm embrace. You missed having more couple time with him, and wanted to resolve that as quickly as possible. You wanted to update him on everything you had seen in the basement, but figured he probably had seen the same things. You knew you both had larger than normal reports to do when you got home as well. You wanted to pout a bit, and thought maybe you could bring your laptop to the living room and cuddle time.
"Why don't you go home and rest for a bit. I'll get the rest of the groceries" Bucky offered you gently.
"Can you get me more strawberries?" you looked up at him through your eyelashes.
"Of course I'm going to get you more strawberries" Bucky took your hand and kissed your knuckles. "I'll also get you some peaches, and some of those vegetables you've been cooking" he held your gaze for a moment.
"Well, it looks like you two are okay now" Ron stood up quickly brushing off his jeans with his hands.
"Let us walk you home sweetheart." Stephanie offered gently. You stood up and looked at Bucky and he gave you a kiss on the lips. You smiled happily and followed Stephanie back towards the house. Ron came over and took her hand, while he held the bags of groceries they had picked out. You saw Bucky get up and started walking through the market for you. Stephanie walked you right to your door while Ron hurried back to their house.
"Thank you Stephanie" you smiled gratefully to Stephanie, and unlocked the door. "It means a lot to me that you helped me out"
"Don't forget our tea this week" she grinned. "Get some rest"
"I'm looking forward to our tea" you nodded and waved as she walked away.

When you got inside you headed straight upstairs and started loading up the files into your email. You were typing for well over an hour when you heard the front door open. You looked at the status on your computer and saw that the files were still uploading. You raced down the stairs and saw Bucky was putting groceries away for you."Hi baby" you exclaimed happily and raced to him. He opened up his arms as you jumped at him. He chuckled as you gleefully giggled and he spun you in a circle, holding you close."You should have waited for me to go in the basement" he kissed you softly on the lips. "I thought that you knew I was worried about you" he sighed, pulling back from you."I was worried it was our only chance" you pouted, looking at him and feeling a little guilty about it."I made it in, he has files on almost everyone in the neighborhood" he held you close."I took pictures of it. I got pictures of almost everything. I also think I have him sold on selling me a gun for you" you leaned into him with a smile."Well, you went above and beyond today. But you still shouldn't have gone in" he frowned. "I was worried about you""I just wanted to make sure that we got the data. Now that I know he has the guns, I can be more convincing" you looked at him."Well, we are getting further on our mission. I got pictures too, but the computer was taking too long to get the data" he admitted."Don't worry, I got it" you smiled broadly. "I thought we could send off our reports and maybe cuddle for a bit?" you asked."We still have to go to the grocery store" he reminded you and went back to putting the fruits and vegetables away. You took the strawberries and washed a few in the sink and started eating them, moaning happily."Maybe we can go do groceries tomorrow?" you asked hopefully."I'll go, and you can stay home and rest" Bucky offered."I'd rather go with you. I'll go finish my report" you sighed softly and walked back up the stairs. You were feeling a little put out at the moment that he didn't want to stay home and snuggle. You felt badly that you were feeling needy lately. You wanted more of Bucky's undivided attention, but you supposed it was mission first for you both. You sat back down in your chair and saw that the data was done uploading. You compressed the file after looking through it. It seemed that he had been at these gun sales for a long time. You scanned the screen and saw the people he had been buying from, and also noticed there were quite a few sales since they had moved to the gated community. It looked like he was selling out on the streets as well, and the guns were almost untraceable. You frowned at that, and heard Bucky come into the room. He set a bowl of strawberries and cut up peaches beside you and went to his desk after placing a soft kiss on the back of your head. You turned in your chair to look at him, but he looked so focused on the computer, you didn't want to interrupt him. You finished your email about the importance of roses, and mentioned you wanted to plant some green ones and asked for their advice if you should. Which basically meant you think you have a gun sale set up, you just wanted the green light to go for it. You started munching on the fruits Bucky brought in for you and you swiveled in your chair a few times to see what he was up to, and if he was still working on his report. He was going slowly but surely taking his time. You received an email back from the team telling you if you had the opportunity, to plant the green roses and follow up. You nodded to yourself as you closed your laptop wondering if Bucky was mad at you. You knew it was a risk, but when you both started on this mission, you had agreed it was mission first. You had also both agreed that you would play today by ear. You weren't sure why you were feeling so guilty, and pouted slightly to yourself as you went down the stairs and put your bowl away before going into the living room and snuggling up to Daisy and Alpine waiting for Bucky to finish his report.
