Newbie (Bucky x Reader)

Late night rendezvous

You took Daisy out for her walk and came back quickly wanting nothing more than to just take a long hot shower but knew you didn't have time for it. The whole family and mandatory things were not something you were used to. Fury was always too busy for a family dynamic, except he made an effort for Sundays. You had enjoyed this though. It was just going to take some getting used to. You had noted during the week that during your warm up it normally ended up with seeing Steve and Bucky doing rounds outside before you went back in for your shower. It was one of the highlights of your day if you were going to be honest with yourself. Your whole body ached tonight, you had really pushed yourself during the week, and were looking forward to two days to resting, hopefully. Unless a recon mission came up, then you would be happy to join in for that. It was something you knew like the back of your hand. You waited for Daisy to finish drinking some water before walking back to the living room. You saw everyone was in the same seating as before, and you took your spot between Steve and Bucky leaning forward and trying to keep space between you. Daisy went and laid in her bed as you tried to relax.
"You ready?" Wanda grinned.
"What is it this time?" you sat back.
"Hostel" she grinned and hit play. You resigned yourself to your fate and sat back a little. Daisy's head looked up and she ran to you and jumped up on your lap. You held her close, determined not to use Bucky as your shield again. You felt an arm came up behind you again and you leaned back slightly, liking the comfort it brought you. You started cuddling into him more as the jump scares came, and you finally felt his arm wrap all the way around your shoulders pulling you closer. You leaned back and brought Daisy with you. When things seemed to get sexual, you tried to lean uncomfortably away. As the movie got gorier you finally gave in pulling Daisy to cover your face and when that didn't work you finally moved sideways and put your head into Bucky's chest. He didn't say a word, however used both his hands to pick you up and put you in his lap. Now you were worried about two things. You leaned in closer and you felt him chuckle deep in his chest.
"It's almost over" he whispered to you towards the end of the movie. You hadn't even bothered taking your head out from his chest for a majority of the movie. You had given up. He had both arms around you and you didn't care.
"I give in, I'm terrible with horror movies. I make Maria watch them with me because they scare her" you finally said out loud. You knew Wanda and Nat heard you when you heard them both giggle.
"We had a feeling" Nat's voice came from close by. You could feel Daisy on Bucky's legs beside you whining as well.
"Can we turn this off now, its giving me nightmares" Pietro admitted.
"It's the end of it anyways" Nat announced and you started to look out when you saw another gory scene and put your head back in Bucky's chest. He chuckled and held you tighter.
"Is someone going to need a nightlight?" Tony teased Pietro who flipped him off.
"Who comes up with these kind of movies?" you pouted, words muffled against a very well defined chest.
"I'd like to thank them" you heard a whisper come from Bucky and you gave him a lame slap.
"Don't start with me handsome, I already said this isn't going to keep happening" you went to pull away and there was a jump scare and you jumped back into place.
"Understood" he chuckled, and you heard Steve chuckling from beside you. A few minutes later, you heard him whisper it was safe, and you scrambled off of his lap and sat down holding Daisy to calm your nerves. The end of movie titles came up and you stood up quickly.
"Okay, no more horrors for a while" Nat grinned.
"No promises, its my choice next week" Tony announced and you huffed a little. "I'm thinking the hills have eyes" he grinned and you paled.
"Please no" you bit your bottom lip shaking your head.
"We will see" Tony shrugged. "Night everyone" he left to go to bed. You saw most of the team started heading to their rooms but you stayed for a moment before starting to head back. You had already changed your phone over to the Stark phone and started using your laptop at night. You got to your room and left the door open slightly as you went to the closet to get a change of clothes to go to bed. You took a quick shower and put on a lace nightgown that still covered your bits. You headed towards the bed, taking your laptop with you planning on watching something funny before bed. You heard a knock at the door and looked over to see Bucky standing there in his pajama pants and a white muscle shirt.
"Hey doll" he pushed the door open since you were far away.
"Hey Bucky" you gave a small smile.
"You're not going to sleep?" he saw you prepared with your laptop.
"No, I'm going to need something else to watch before I go to bed" you admitted. "I was thinking a comedy. I like Brooklyn nine nine" you sat on the side of the bed.
"Can I join you?" he crossed his arms looking a little uncomfortable. "That was pretty gory" he admitted.
"Sure, come on in" you nodded with a smile. You pulled back the blankets and got in waiting for him to join you. He seemed to hesitate before he slid in beside you.
"Does this make you uncomfortable?" he asked gently.
"No" you shook your head. "I do this with Maria once in a while" you shrugged putting your knees up and putting your computer on it. He scooted a little closer to you and watched as you pulled up the show. He seemed to be taking in everything, not saying a word. You put on the first episode, and shortly into the start of the show you started laughing. It was one of your favorites for sure. You heard Bucky start chuckling and laughing at some parts. It sounded like music to you, and you stole a look at him smiling. You noticed that he also would steal glances at you at the same time. You flushed wondering why, but at the same time, it didn't matter. He was laughing, and seemed to be having a good time. That's all that was important. He eventually put his arm around you as he got closer in.
"This okay?" he asked gently in your ear.
"You're fine" you gave him a soft smile. "Its easier to see the closer you are I suppose" you admitted. When he laughed now, you could feel it throughout your entire body. It gave you chills. You leaned in more to him, enjoying the smell of pine and leather that he gave off. It wasn't usual for you to enjoy someone else's company, but since you came to the compound you started enjoying the family dynamic and enjoying the feeling of closeness that everyone gave out. What surprised you the most was that everyone went out of their way to make you feel like you actually were apart of the family. You wouldn't give up the way you were raised, but this felt special. Like you were apart of something honestly special. You started to relax a bit and your eyes were getting heavy and you leaned more into Bucky closing your eyes. You drifted off easily, he was so warm.

When you woke up, Bucky was gone and your laptop was back on the desk. You felt Daisy curl up more into your back and you gave a small sigh. You looked over and saw your door was still slightly open and the light from the hallway was spilling in. You checked the time, and still had plenty of time before breakfast. It was still odd for you to have to eat at the same time every day with the entire team. You got up and went into your closet noting that you needed to do laundry today. You changed into a pair of sweats and a tank top. You laced up your sneakers and made the bed once Daisy jumped down. You both took the stairs down, you didn't bother with her leash today. It was too early, and your nightmares had kicked in again last night. You always dreamt of the things they did to you before Fury found you. Some nights were worse than others. You went to jog around the track with Daisy barking excitedly with you. You used your abilities to create pillars to jump on top of, and they got taller as they went further out. You felt yourself almost slip off, but you did a flip and made your way to the ground. You recalled your ice abilities and found yourself panting a little. The sun was starting to rise, and you went to the side of the lake and felt Daisy come over and curl into your side. You turned up your music and relaxed with Daisy. You looked at the time again, and sighed. You had way too much time before breakfast. You stood up slowly and turned to see Steve and Bucky hitting the bottom of the stairs with Sam right behind them.
"Good morning" Sam waved.
"Good morning doll, did you sleep well?" Bucky asked with a smirk.
"Good morning" Steve grinned.
"Good morning gentlemen, yes Bucky, I slept well" you flushed thinking about how you had fallen asleep on him the night before.
"You already done?" Sam grinned.
"I've been up for a few hours" you admitted. "I forgot to take my medication last night"
"Want to get in a few more rounds?" Steve grinned.
"I'm headed for the showers" you shook your head. "Where's the laundry room again?" you raised your eyebrow.
"I'll show you, we wont be long" Bucky offered quickly. "I have some laundry to do too, and there's lots of washers and dryers"
"Sure" you nodded and started heading up the stairs slowly, letting a little more sway in your hips feeling Bucky's eyes on you.
"Come on Tinman" Sam whispered to him. "Stop staring man"
"Have you looked at her?" you heard Bucky demanded in a whisper. You made it out of hearing range and headed into your room, flushing slightly at Bucky's words.

"No seriously man, you've been distracted since she got here" Sam walked beside him as they started walking out to the track.
"Who wouldn't be?" Bucky demanded.
"You're being too obvious jerk. You heard her, she's tired of the dating scene. Besides, it would be awkward if you dated her and things didn't work out. She's part of the team now. Can you imagine how Fury would respond?" Steve looked at him seriously.
"She's tired of being forced on dates that she doesn't know the guy. I can take the time to get to know her" Bucky grinned. "She's a lot of fun when we were out doing recon together"
"Considering all you wanted to do was kiss her" Steve reminded him.
"She is distracting" Bucky grinned as he started on a job. "I can't wait to see how much more distracting she can get to be"
"You haven't dated much since you joined" Steve admitted.
"Can't find a dame that interesting, besides been busy working" Bucky shrugged.
"Didn't you do your laundry the other night, Tin man?" Sam asked, starting to get out of breath.
"Shut up man" Bucky laughed. "I'm washing my bedding" he took off running ahead of them.
