Peter came into your room to get Daisy who growled at first then she calmed down once she saw who it was. He promised to bring her back as soon as he was done walking her, and used your balcony to go down the stairs. Maria came in shortly after, but you were already curled up in a ball trying to ignore the pain in your body. She didn't say anything but crawled into the bed beside you and held you from behind. You knew she was waiting you out.
"I don't want therapy" you whispered.
"I know babe, but its time. You've had these nightmares for years, and they are just going to get worse after what you went through. We almost lost you" she held you close. "You still owe me a girls night"
"I promise a girls night" you yawned.
"Good, now get some sleep. I'll stay here until you wake up" she promised. You started drifting off almost immediately feeling her rub your side. You missed Peter coming back into the room with Daisy, and Maria moving back so Daisy could take your back and sleep between you both. Maria played on her phone while you continued to rest.
You woke up with a start, and Maria started rubbing your back while Daisy licked your face. You had dreamt about the mission, and the guilt was consuming you. You saw Maria looking at you concerned, and she touched your forehead.
"The fever is back" she frowned. "I'm going to go get Bruce"
"No, they'll send me back to the hospital wing at Shield" you shook your head.
"This is serious, you can't ignore it" Maria growled at you and got out of bed heading out of the bedroom. You shivered slightly trying to pull the blankets around you some more. Bruce came in a few minutes later with Tony and Maria behind him as he hurried over to you. He took your temperature, and frowned and looked at Tony shaking his head.
"We are going to have to call Cho" Bruce sighed.
"No, I'll be fine. I have the antibiotics" you frowned at them.
"Your health isn't something that we are going to mess around with" Tony shook his head at you. "You have a nasty infection that needs to be flushed out"
"You might need to go back to the medical wing" Maria warned you.
"I'm cold" you complained, feeling Daisy whine and snuggle more into you. Bruce pulled out his phone and walked out into the hallway so you couldn't hear him. "I want to stay here at home" you whined slightly. Maria sat on the bed beside you and rubbed your arm comfortingly.
"Considering how you were handling the hospital; I'll see what I can do to make that happen" Tony decided.
"Thank you, Tony," you sighed.
"You need to listen no matter what happens" Maria reminded you.
"Just get this infection out of me so I can go for a run" you gave a small smile. "I need to get back to my recons"
"No recons for a while, lets get you better first kid" Tony gave a small smirk.
You waited patiently and Bruce came back in a few minutes later.
"She recommends we bring her back" Bruce looked at you sheepishly.
"What would it take to keep her here?" Tony asked quickly.
"A nurse, we have everything else except the antibiotics and IV. Doctor Cho said she was willing to come up to the compound for a few days if we wanted to keep her here" Bruce offered. "She said that Y/N is stubborn and doesn't do well without Daisy"
"Make it happen" Tony nodded. "You're excused from family meals until you're better. The family will make sure Daisy gets taken care of. Thank you Maria for coming to get us" Tony turned around and saw you didn't open your gifts yet. "You should take the time to open these" he pointed. You gave a weak nod, and he tapped Bruce on the shoulder before walking out.
"I'll call Cho" Bruce nodded and followed Tony out. He left your door open slightly while he made his call and headed back to his lab. Maria went and laid behind you again. Daisy just groaned and moved up to lay in front of you instead while Maria held you from behind. You leaned into the warmth and fell back asleep.
When you woke up again Maria was gone, but Doctor Cho was in the middle of getting set up in your room. You tried to sit up, but it pained you to move. She looked at you and gave a small smile, and you felt Daisy wiggle a bit against you.
"We need to put the IV back in, I'll have to choose a new spot" she warned you.
"As long as you don't make me go back again" you whispered.
"Tony and your dad has taken care of that" she chuckled. "This will keep you hydrated, but also keep the antibiotics running through you" she set up the IV post beside your bed.
"Can I go pee before you stick that back in me" you asked, feeling your hair sticking to your skin from the fever.
"I'll help you get there" she offered gently as you sat up. She held out her arm and let you move slowly towards the bathroom. You did your business quickly and washed up running a cold cloth across the back of your neck and forehead and cheeks. You took a moment to sit on the counter, trying to get your strength up and moved towards the door and came back out. She helped you back to the bed, and she stuck the IV up higher in your forearm. You hissed at the pain of it, but knew it was necessary.
"You'll get better a little faster this way anyways" Doctor Cho took your temperature, and checked your blood pressure. Daisy crawled up in your back while you cuddled back under the blankets. "I'm going to set up my office in Bruce's lab. I'll be in to check on you, but you need to try to eat something later. You missed lunch" she warned you. "Tony already updated the team" she added.
"I'm just tired" you admitted, and put your headphones in turning on your music again. You saw her leave the door open a crack when she walked out, and closed your eyes again. You were almost asleep when you heard the door open and suddenly felt something jump up on your side. You opened your eyes to see Alpine resting on your side, and could feel him purring loudly. You reached down and started petting him, feeling calmed by his presence and Daisy's.
"Psst... Daisy" Steve was by the door trying to call her. You couldn't help the small giggle. He looked like he felt so out of place.
"You can come in Steve" you yawned.
"I'm sorry, I was just trying to run her outside before supper" he came in and gave a small smile. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired" you yawned.
"Looks like they have you all set up" he walked a little closer.
"Doctor Cho says I'll get better faster if I stay on the IV for now" you frowned.
"That's all we want" Steve nodded, and grinned reaching out to pet Alpine. Daisy popped her head up and gave a small yawn before coming around and jumping off the bed.
"Where's Bucky?" you asked after a moment, having not seen him since this morning.
"He was trying to make you chicken noodle soup from scratch for supper. That punk burnt it already, so he ran out to go get you some" Steve chuckled. "You should have seen Tony's face"
"That's so sweet" you smiled to yourself.
"He's already planned out your night for you, don't be surprised if he's here when you wake up again. Try not to give him a hard time" Steve smiled kindly.
"I like spending time with him" you yawned.
"I'll take her out the balcony, and bring her back" Steve warned you leading her out the balcony door. By the time he left you were already half asleep.
When you woke up again you saw one of the dining room chairs was in your room, on the other side of your nightstand, and your nightstand was pulled out slightly from the wall. Bucky was in the middle of putting another blanket on top of you that was a moss green color, and you assumed it was the extra blanket that Tony had bought for your bedding.
"Bucky?" you asked.
"Hey doll" he smiled at you and grabbed a bag from off the table and came over sitting in the chair putting the bag on the table and opening it up. "I got us some chicken soup for supper" he took out two containers and some spoons with crackers.
"You're so sweet" you flushed and sat up, feeling a little dizzy from moving too quickly.
"Doc said this is okay to feed you" he pulled off the lid and stirred it before going to feed you a spoonful. You gave a shy smile, but let him.
"Its good" you spoke shyly. "I can feed myself"
"Let me just do a few more" he shook his head, continuing to spoon feed you. He did a few more than you thought he would, but you were getting nauseous and wanted to lay down again.
"I don't think I can eat anymore" you admitted.
"You sure, there's still lots left" his voice was low.
"I'm sure. You need to eat too" you pointed out. He nodded, and took his bowl and just drank it back. You couldn't help a little bit of a giggle. You took one of the napkins and wiped the side of his face when he was done. "You're adorable" you smiled.
"Alright, I'll be right back" he grabbed the left overs and the garbage and headed out of your room quickly. You started to lay back again when he came back in and put your table back, and moved the chair to the side before grabbing your computer and sliding into the bed on the other side of you. "Show me how to work this thing doll" he asked softly while opening it. You put in your password and turned on your side so you could snuggle more into him. You had to pull more on the IV so you could move your arm comfortably. "What do you want to watch?" he looked at you expectantly.
"Anything" you smiled softly at him, knowing you would likely fall asleep on him anyway. He put his arm under your head, and pulled you in closer while he opened Netflix and put on Brooklyn Nine Nine for you. You nuzzled yourself into his chest, and watched it with your eyes half open. Alpine came in and laid across your hip again before you heard Nat at your balcony door bringing in Daisy. Daisy launched herself on the bed and curled up on the other side of Bucky. You were surprised, since it was normally just you that she cuddled into.
"Have a good date night" Nat grinned walking back out the door.
"Date night?" you looked up at Bucky confused.
"Its our fourth date" he shrugged. "Didn't you notice more flowers?" he pointed to the vase beside your bed that was overflowing at this point. You giggled and tapped him on the chest.
"You can't make this a date" you shook your head.
"I already did, you just need to learn to accept it. You're my girl now" he smiled to himself.
"You didn't ask" you pointed out.
"Will you, be my girl?" he bit his bottom lip in anticipation.
"Well, my father did give his blessing" you giggled. "Of course, Bucky. Even without his blessing, I already decided I would be your girl"
"Good, then this is our fourth date, and you'll just have to get used to it" he moved the computer so he could lean down and kiss you softly on the lips. You sighed contentedly reaching up to touch him on the cheek.
"Now I can say you're my man" you blushed as he pulled away.
"About damn time" he winked and leaned down to kiss you again. You felt him nip at your bottom lip and he deepened the kiss pushing you slightly onto your back. You couldn't imagine craving anyone else's kisses the way you craved his. He was like a dream come true, just like the first day you met him on your doorstep. He pulled back when you thought your lungs were about to burst and he pulled you back to snuggle into him again. "How do I hit play again?" he asked after fiddling with the computer again. You quickly showed him and he moved the computer better so you both could see it. You nuzzled into his chest, holding onto the material of his shirt, almost afraid he would disappear on you again.
