Bucky's return**

After you took a quick shower, you checked your phone, but only had a heart emoji from Bucky. It was at least something. You sent one back, with the words "Be safe" along with it. You thought about it for a few minutes and sent a quick "I miss you" before putting your phone in your pocket and heading back down to the kitchen. You looked up a recipe for making pie crust, and hooked up your music to Friday while you started to work. You made more pie crust than you anticipated, and ended up with eight pies with the lattice ready to go on top. You bit your bottom lip and shrugged, taking out the ingredients for fillings and started on those, making sure to make extra. Ronan Keatings "When you say nothing at all" came on, and you started singing to it loudly as you went, forgetting Bruce's office was relatively close by. You concentrated on making the caramel sauce on the stove for all the apple pies you were making, continuing to sing as you went and the songs changed. You put as many pies as you could in the oven and made yourself a tea while you turned on the timer on your phone. You grabbed the crossword from your pocket and started working on that while you sat at the counter. Your phone chimed, and you took out the pies, and put in the rest, letting them cool on the counter.

"I figured this would happen" Bruce came in just as you were finishing your tea, and you were about to take out the rest of the pies.
"Hmm?" you asked softly, having been singing softly to the music as it played.
"How many pies did you make?" he chuckled.
"Eight" you flushed a bit. "I got carried away" you admitted.
"I heard from Nat" he gave a relieved smile. You grabbed your phone and saw Bucky had texted you as well. You saw the words "I'll see you soon doll" and you started beaming. It was sent a few hours before. "She said they are on their way home; Hydra didn't even know they were there"
"That's the best news" you sang jumping up and hugging him quickly.
"It is, hopefully they are back tonight" he smiled. You took out a fresh plate of cookies and handed him one. "You should take out more of those, they'll go quickly once everyone is back" he warned you, and you pulled out another container from the freezer.
"Do you think Bucky will like them?" you asked honestly.
"I think everyone will love them" he gave a kind smile.
"I was thinking of trying a new recipe tomorrow for cookies, we have all the ingredients" you admitted.
"You should, you seem to relax more when you are baking" he observed. "Or cooking in general, I think Happy figured that out first" he smirked.
"It gets me out of my head" you admitted, and took out the protein shake and drank it down quickly.
"What's the new recipe?" he sat down on one of the stools, seeming curious.
"Salted caramel. I thought of it when I was making the apple pie filling" you admitted.
"That sounds good to me" he grinned. "I'll look forward to trying it"

When Happy and Pepper got back, they brought in some more pizza for you both, and you heard Bruce groan at the same time as you.
"I know you two had pizza, but we got gourmet pizzas. It was that or wait an hour, and we just wanted to come home" Happy gave a smile. "Clint's team, and Tony's team are starting to make their way back"
"Nat and Bucky's team too" Bruce smiled proudly. "Everyone should be home by morning" he seemed excited at the thought of it.
"How did the pie making go?" Pepper asked as she sat down.
"I made eight" you admitted softly. "Five apple, and three berry pies"
"Apple pie for dessert sounds good. I'll make sure to put the others in the freezers" Happy decided. "I still expect my helper in the morning for breakfast" he looked at you pointedly, while you were taking your pill.
"That works, Bucky normally goes for a run in the morning" you admitted. "But once I can use those stairs again..." you drifted off.
"I know, not as much help in the morning" he grinned. "But I'll miss it" he admitted.
"You have made it seem more peaceful in the morning" Pepper smiled. "Happy even takes a break"
"Maybe we can tell Doctor Joy that's what I'm doing for homework" you rolled your eyes.
"She's pretty serious about her homework, and reading people" Bruce gave a small smile.
"How did she do today?" Happy looked to Bruce who gave a small grin.
"Caught her in the gym" Bruce admitted.
"You could have lied" you looked at him.
"Why bother? You'll do it again the moment you think no one is paying attention" he chuckled. "She's getting stronger"
"What part of resting did you not understand young lady?" Pepper looked scandalized.
"I needed to stretch my legs, and walking up and down the hallways seemed redundant" you admitted.
"Its pool or the hallways for now" she crossed her arms staring you down. "Last thing we need is you pushing it too far and falling down with some kind of fever again"
"That's what Bruce said" you grumbled. "I just want to take Daisy outside on my own"
"You have a few more days before that can happen" Bruce sighed, noting to himself you were more stubborn than he thought.
"We know this is hard for you, but you'll be back on missions again soon. You need to learn to take things slowly" Pepper sighed. "Also, if I could I would ground you"
"Thank goodness you cant" you grinned.
"I can call your dad" she shrugged.
"Please don't" you shook your head. "He yells when he gets mad"
"Try going anywhere near that gym again before you're cleared, and I'll have him on speed dial" she smiled victoriously. You grimaced, and ate the rest of your pizza quietly.
"You did a lot today, why don't you go rest for the rest of the night? They wont be back until really late, or early in the morning" Bruce suggested. You nodded hesitantly and Happy cleared his throat when you almost left the protein drink at the table. You grabbed it and a bottle of water before heading back to your bedroom.

You stopped by Bucky's room to check on the cat box, which was still clean and his kibble and water dishes were still over flowing before you headed into your room. You changed into a powder blue satin negligee with matching lace panties before settling down and taking your meds, including the new prescription, and trying to get comfortable. Bruce brought in Daisy after a while through the balcony for you and you gave him a small wave. You wrapped the green satin comforter around you, noticing that your bedding had been changed for you again. Daisy tried to make the end pieces like a nest for her to snuggle into with Alpine up on your hip. You turned on your music and didn't fight the sleep when it came. You had done a lot more today, and the sleeping pills were usually a sure fire way to knock you out. You had forgotten that you had curled up with Bucky's sweater again which you meant to put away, and had your phone out playing music.

You woke up with a start during the night feeling a little heavier than normal. It took a minute to realize there was a pair of arms wrapped around you, and it felt like the most natural thing in the world.
"Bucky?" you asked half asleep still.
"I was trying to not wake you up" you heard his baritone voice behind you and you turned quickly in his arms to look at him with the biggest smile on your face.
"You came home!" you reached up and touched his face and he smiled at you softly. You leaned up quickly without a care in the world and kissed him hard on the lips, but he seemed ready for you, and nipped at your bottom lip quickly before deepening the kiss. You could tell he cleaned up before coming to bed, he smelled clean, but you didn't care if he would have come to bed still in his tactical outfit. He was there, and that's all that mattered. You climbed on top of him and straddled his hips, not taking your lips from his. You heard him moan softly and he started to sit up, pulling you with him.
"You were gone forever" you pulled away for a breath and he started kissing down your neck.
"Longest damn mission of my life" he grumbled. "Boring as hell" he added. "I need my girl there now to keep me focused" he teased, nipping at the skin of your neck. He didn't waste time with pulling up on the nightgown and pulling it off of you before making his way to your breasts quickly.
