Mumbo held onto Grian tightly, and Grian hugged him. It was the first week of Season 6, and they were sitting on Grian's bed.

"...How...?" Mumbo finally asked.

"Its a long story." Grian whispered.

"...You aren't my Grian, are you?" Mumbo asked, buring his face in Grian's hair.

"...No..." Grian said. "But I hope you can forgive me."

"...It's fine. I'm just happy to see you..." Mumbo muttered. "...Even if your not my Grian..."

...

Grian hummed as he finished putting some of the last details his on his cake, and he was happy with how it turned out.

"Grian?" Xisuma yelled out.

Grian hummed as he turned to look at the admin. Doc and Mumbo stood near the admin, and Mumbo had a look of guilt.

"Yeah?" Grian asked, landing near them.

"Please explain." Xisuma said. "Explain the fact your player file says you died."

"Explain what?" Grian asked, feigning confusion.

Xisuma sighed and turned to Doc.

"See, it's probably just a glitch in the records." Xisuma said.

"I don't think it is." Doc said. "Player files don't just get glitched out."

Grian glanced at Mumbo, and Mumbo shrugged.

"So that's what you meant." Grian decided. "My player file is just extremely glitchy. The server was extremely glitchy. Bam, glitchy player file."

Doc raised an eyebrow, but accepted the lie. Xisuma smiled to Grian, and Mumbo raised an eyebrow at Grian's lie. Doc and Xisuma left after accepting the lie, and Grian and Mumbo were left on the cake.

"You should tell them the truth." Mumbo said, looking at Grian.

"...It would hurt them..."

"It would hurt them more if they find out farther down the line." Mumbo said. "Your already attached, and their trust in you will plummet if that happens."

"...I know..." Grian muttered. "I just want to live without them asking questions for a little bit longer..."

Mumbo hugged Grian, and Grian leaned against Mumbo.

"Can I ask what happened to Oliver?" Mumbo asked.

Grian had always talked about his Mumbo using their birthname, and not Mumbo.

"Oli changed." Grian said. "He became cruel and hateful."

Mumbo nodded, before leaving Grian. Grian stood there thinking it through. Mumbo was correct.

"Hey X?" Grian asked, walking into the Admin's office.

"What's up?" X asked, looking up.

"I uh... I kinda lied to you and Doc." Grian said, avoiding X's gaze.

Grian sat down in the seat, criss-cross apple-sauce. Grian began fiddling with his fingers, but he still didn't look at X.

"To start, have you heard of the multiverse theory?" Grian asked.

"Of course." X said. "But it's just a theory."
