Grian stood in front of Phil, glaring at the older one.
"Dad I'm not going to just stop flying because broke my arm!" Grian said, his wings puffing up behind him.
"Yes you are. Your lucky I don't just take them from you until your healed!" Phil yelled.
Grian straightened up at the threat, his wings drooping.
"Dad... Flying is my life-" Griam began.
"You know what, your grounded from flying. Your just going to injure yourself doing stupid shit!" Phil said, rubbing the bridge of his nose. Red wisps of magic surrounded the parrot Avian, centered around his wings. The magic covered the wings, despite Grian's effort to get away from them, and then the wings disappeared. "And I'll give them back when your healed and apologize!"
Grian glared at his father before storming out. Once out on the deck, he looked to his friend.
"Grian what happened to your wings?" Taurtis asked.
"We're leaving. Now." Grian growled out, trying not to tear up.
...
Grian stared at Wel's wings in what would look like adoration to everyone who didn't know, but want and slight jealousy to those who did.
Only Mumbo knew about his wings on Hermitcraft, and how Grian refused to talk with his father because of it. In all honesty, Mumbo was grateful that Grian ran on spite and was petty. Most Avian's would kill themselves if they lost their wings, but Grian was still around to hear Phil say he was wrong. That and he loved the Hermits.
"You like wings that much?" Wels asked, laughing slightly.
Grian looked at Wels nefore blushing almost an entire new shade of red.
"Shut up!" Grian said, covering his face. Wels laughed at the blonde's embarrassment.
"Have you ever flown before?" Wels asked, offering.
Grian knew what would happen of he took that offer.
"My best friend before Hermitcraft was an Avian, I'm fine." Grian said, not entirely lying. He'd only flown with Taurtis since the incident twice, both of which ended in Grian sobbing his eyes out.
"Oh, really? I wonder if he'll hold up in a race." Wels said.
Grian understood, it was very unlikely for two Avians to be on the same server, after the hybrid hunts over the last few centuries. So races between Avians were a special thing. Grian used to race against his brother, Taurtis, and other people when he was younger.
"No, he wouldn't. He can't even beat me, and I have an elytra." Grian laughed slightly.
"You sure he wasn't going easy on you?" Wels asked, confusion set on his face.
Avians were faster then elytra.
"Oh no, he wasn't. We were racing to see who got the fish, because I wanted to burn the stinky rotten five years old fish, and he wanted to keep it." Grian shivered at the memories of the fish.
"I should be going. I have some projects to work on." Grian shrugged as he stood up.
"Alright..." Wels waved goodbye to the chaotic blonde.
He was confused, that's for certain. Avians usually don't race against people with elytras, it was unheard of. And for Grian to know an Avian who raced against him, that's also suprising. But the Hermits know almost nothing about Grian's past.
...
Grian glared at his back through the mirror. No matter how hard he tried to scrub, the runes wouldn't go away. He needed his wings right now too. It was coming to the 12th year mark of not having wings.
