TW: Death; Blood;
Grian prefers people call him by feminine words like mommy, mama, pretty, and the sort in this au.

Grian stared at the portal that the Watchers had created. It couldn't be activated without the reality book, and they had known that. But thy had tried. And now their dead bodies littered the castle grounds. Grian held the book in his hand, but stayed near the portal room's main door.
"Any clue as to what type of portal this is?" Scar asked, looking over to the blonde.
Mumbo, Scar, Zed, Doc, and Xisuma were in the room with him. Grian had a stone cold look of emotionless. It was quite obvious he didn't like being here, but being a former Watcher and former Admin he knew a lot more about this then anyone else.
"It might be to the Aether..." Grian murmured, looking down to the tiles.
The tiles were granite and there was some blood stained across the tiles. He look up slightly to look at everything once again. Most of the things they'd tried to open a portal, were the panels - similar to nuclear panels in a past lifetime of his - in a 300° angle, and you could walk to the portal between all the panels. (He was thankful for those stupid math classes now with being a builder, but he still stands by the fact they were stupid.) There was a pedestal in the center of the major arc, obviously made for the Reality Book. The engravings on the pedestal matched the old pedestal he'd created in the Watcher Realm to create 3rd Life and Last Life.
The book hummed loudly as Grian looked at the pedestal, though he knew no one else could hear it. Grian slowly made the walk to the pedestal, with Scar and Xisuma checking out the tapestries on the walls. Zed and Doc were trying to figure out the panels, with Mumbo standing near the portal.
The temptation that filled him only made the guilt grow to thrice the size. He knew that everyone would treat him differently if he did this, but he was so close...
So close to getting his family back...
So close to finally getting Taurtis and Veri back...
So close to them...
And yet...
He was terrified of losing his friends and the Hermits.
He was terrified they'd see him as the freak he was.
A freak who destroyed his own realm...
A hand rested on his shoulder, pulling Grian from his thoughts.
"You alright, Grian?" Xisuma asked.
Grian looked down at the engraved vines in the pedestal. A symbol of growth and letting the past stay in the past...
But Taurtis and Veri weren't apart of his past he wanted to forget... It was...
It was his future...
His entire reason for living this long...
It was all to be one day reunited with them...
"...You would do anything for the Hermits, right...?" Grian muttered, glancing around at the room.
"Grian?" Xisuma asked, more concerned.
Grian spread his Watcher wings to lightly push X away. "Then please stay away from the Portal and me."
Grian lifted the book and looked at the cover before dropping it onto the pedestal.
And just like that...
Everything began to hum with life and power.
The book flipped open with it's pages flipping quickly. The vines on the pedestals turned real and quickly grew out and towards the walls in all directions but the portal. The portal flickered between colors and kept doing so continuously. Xisuma, Doc, Scar, Mumbo, and Zed all found themselves teleported to the door.
