"Taurtis! Taurtis no!" Grian stared at the scene in front of him.
Three men held the blonde who was fighting against their hold. Taurtis was held at gunpoint by another mafia member, both of them covered in bruises, cuts, and broken bones. Grian's left wrist was broken along with his left femur, right ankle and foot, and a broken rib. Taurtis had a broken nose, his right arm hung limp at his side, - the other in the air in surrender - and his fingers were broken.
"Taurtis!" Grian yelled, punching the person, who was holding his arm, in the face.
Taurtis looked up at Grian in fear.
"Grian, I lo-"
Loud...
Sharp...
Painful...
Ringing.
So much ringing.
Grian pushed the mafia men off him and ran to Taurtis, adrenaline flooding his veins once more. He dove and sat next to the body. The tears fell fast as he tried to revive his best friend.
And when the ringing stopped... The laughter began.
Grian leaned over Taurtis's body as he held the man he loved. The laughter was intense and made him want to murder anyone who even knew about this, but he just held Taurtis as he cried. He sat up and pulled Taurtis's body up with him, the anger and pain clouding his judgement.
There was a way for Taurtis to live again, a way for them to be happy.
And the cracks in reality started. A black leather bound book slowly appeared floating above his outstretched hand, black cracks and tears in reality beginning to surround the couple.
"What are you doing!?" One member yelled.
Grian turned to look at them, and they froze. The once fearful blue eyes had been stained a dark red.
"I'm going to be happy." Grian said, the red eyes beginning to glow. "And if I have to destroy this reality to do it, why should I spare a world that's hurt me more then you could image?"
The cracks continued, spreading between the mafia members and the couple. Grian's eyes set on one tear in reality in front of them. Inside was a kaleidoscope of different images from another reality. He seemed happy there.
The black book finally rested in his palm, and black corruption began to seep up his arm and into his shoulder.
Then he felt grass.
The wind blew against him softly, barely noticable. He looked around, before smiling genuinely for the first time in months. He was laying on the ground with Taurtis, who had his arm wrapped around Grian fast asleep.
With Taurtis alive, he was more then happy.
The book quickly disappeared from his hand and he nuzzled his face into Taurtis's chest. Taurtis's steady heart beat slowly lulled him to sleep, as he thought about some options for the world he created.
Perhaps he could create gods to run the world so he didn't have to?
That seems like a good idea.
...
Taurtis wasn't his Taurtis. He shouldn't have messed with reality, because it does not like it at all. Grian sat on the steps to the empire and just held himself. When Grian had messed with Reality, it awoke a race of gods that don't take kindly to reality being rewritten. The Watchers. They had just forced him to kill this version of Taurtis, so it was all for nothing.
Pearl wrapped her arms around the shaking admin.
"Grian... It's not your fault..." Pearl said, he hand carding through Grian's hair as she held him.
"...Yes. It is. I'm the one who awoke them Pearl..." Grian muttered.
"What?"
Grian began crying as he tried to apologize. "Pearl I am so sorry-"
"Its fine-"
"Its not fine!" Grian yelled, standing up and leaving Pearl on the steps. "I rewrote reality Pearl! Just to be with Taurtis again! It was a mistake! Because no matter what, Taurtis always ends up dead!"
Pearl stared at her admin in shock. Rewriting reality? Was that even possible? And Taurtis was... Taurtis had died before the rewrite?
"So please... Just leave. I deserve to be alone..." Grian continued, the tears falling as he wrapped his arms around himself.
"Grian, no one deserves to be alone. Besides, you can't undo what you did can you?"
Grian shook his head. "I can't even rewrite reality again... It was an ability I got from selling my soul to a god, and now that I wrote that god out... I don't have access to the book of reality anymore..."
"Did you use the book to get any of us here...? Like... Did I have a family?" Pearl asked.
Grian shook his head. "In the original reality I made sure to only bring orphans, abused, or people who had no connection to servers. The others all stuck together and if they aren't, it's their own doing..."
Pearl bit her cheek. "Did Taurtis know...?"
"...No... My Taurtis would've killed me for using that ability on such a large scale just because he died... And honestly I wish I had died." The last was muttered under his breath, but she heard it.
"Grian, don't say stuff like that. If what your saying is true, then you acted out in pain and you also made the time and effort to keep families together, while keeping abused people from their abusers. Besides, I love Evo and its inhabitants. If I had no one before, I'm happy that I do now. Even if no one knows anything about why we came to Evo..." Pearl stood up and walked to Grian, before wrapping her arms around him.
"But I'm just causing more suffering-"
"No. Your human. Human's make mistakes and we pay for it. Your mistake probably saved thousands of people."
"It doesn't feel like it..."
"It doesn't have to. You can find someone else who lives you like your Taurtis did, but you have to let this guilt go before then. Or you won't truly be Grian."
