Grian smiled to Mumbo as Mumbo explained what he was doing with the magical powder known as redstone. Several hours had passed already, but Grian didn't mind. Mumbo was happy explaining the Redstone, even though he knew that Grian didn't get anything.

"- so then you use the observers to detect the... The..." Mumbo said, turning to Grian. Grian hummed in confusion. "I'm... I'm sorry. I think I need sleep."

Mumbo shook his head and laughed quietly. Grian titled his head and frowned to Mumbo.

"You okay?" Grian asked, dropping from his perch on a fence pole.

"I think so..." Mumbo said, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I just think my lack of sleep is making me see someone."

Grian felt his chest tighten up at the admittance. Fear and guilt began to flow through his veins and it burned in uncomfort.

Grian shuffled his feet and walked to Mumbo's side. He smiled nervously to Mumbo, hoping that Mumbo's lack of sleep would make him think his nervousness was nothing... Hopefully...

"Do you want to sleep at my base? It's closest and I have a ton of blankets." Grian suggested.

"Yeah!" Mumbo had light blush across his cheeks, and smiled to him. He was excited and happy.

Grian smiled and held Mumbo's hand, he pulled Mumbo behind him as he led Mumbo to his house. Once inside, Grian grabbed a pair of pajamas and walked into the bathroom.

He let his smile fall and held onto the counter. He was terrified. He was able to see the person in the mirror, and he looked down at the counter once more.

"...I didn't think he would see you..." Grian mumbled.

"Trust me. I didn't either." They said, brushing their hair out of their eyes. "Though it does make sense. My spirit is tied to yours, so when he took your soul. It makes sense."

"...Ell, I..." Grian mumbled.

"Hey G, you okay?" Mumbo asked from the other side of the door.

"Y-Yeah! Just zoned out!" Grian said, forcing a smile even though Mumbo couldn't see it.

He looked to the ghost, but they just nodded and disappeared. He sighed softly, before changing. He changed into a white tank top and black sweats, but walked back into his bedroom. Mumbo had changed into black sweats as well, though no shirt.

Grian blushed but smiled to Mumbo. Mumbo rubbed the back of his neck as Grian grabbed some blankets. Once Grian put the extra blankets onto the bed, both laid down. It wasn't uncommon for Mumbo to sleep over, nor for Grian to just sleep in any of the Boatem members beds.

"...Hey... What did they look like? The ghost?" Grian asked leaning against Mumbo's chest.

"I'm... They were more feminine and had long curly purple hair." Mumbo said, closing his eyes. "Why?"

Grian sighed and looked at the wall infront of him. The ghost stared at him. Grian closed his eyes and slowly signed to the ghost. He knew Mumbo could feel it, he just wanted it to be somewhat discrete. He opened his eyes to look at the ghost for their response.

"Go ahead."

Mumbo flinched and looked around. His eyes landed on the ghost, but he shook his head.

"I really need sleep, I could've sworn I heard someone speak." Mumbo said, laughing nervously.

"I guess he can hear you too." The blonde muttered.

"What do you mean?" Mumbo asked.

Grian sat up and looked at the ghost.

"I haven't been completely honest with any of the hermits." Grian admitted, looking away from the ghost and the mortal beside him.

"I-I- What? What do you-" Mumbo tried, sitting up. His voice failed him as he saw the uneasiness in his friend's posture.

"Grian and I knew eachother a long time ago. Before you two knew eachother. My name is Ellen by the way." The ghost said. Grian looked down at his hands as he heard the words.

So much blood.

So much had slipped through his fingers back then.

He could've stopped it!

"Grian... You okay?" Mumbo rested his hand in Grian's shoulder.

The flinch was far too noticeable for Mumbo to write off. Grian's eyes snapped to Mumbo's with fear engraved into the blonde's eyes. His wings puffed up and spread out behind him.

"G?" Mumbo asked, letting his hand rest beside him. "Mate, you okay?"

Grian looked down and thought.

Was he okay?

"Don't um..." Grian started.

"Grian, I can tell him if you'd like." Ellen suggested.

"No it's... I'm..." Grian sighed before continuing. "Mumbo, my group of friends in highschool was horrid. Sam and Taurtis were my best friends and roommates at the time... Sam was..."

"Abusive, manipulative, and a psychopath." Ellen filled in.

"...He killed Taurtis and made me pretend to be Taurtis..." Grian said. "Like Ell said, Sam was abusive. We found a clone of Taurtis, so Sam ignored me unless he deemed it necessary. I became better friends with Ell and a few others, but Sam noticed he wasn't in control of me like he used to be."

Grian looked at Mumbo, seeing the fear and the worry that flooded his system.

"He killed Grian. I brought him back, and it bonded our souls together. Which now means you can see me because you took his soul, or atleast part of it." Ellen continued. "He found out and killed everyone who even attempted to take Grian from his control. Before I died I used a spell to turn Grian immortal, to give him the ability to escape eventually."

"...I did... After Sam spilt far too much blood..." Grian mumbled, tearing up.

"Grian, it wasn't your fault." Ellen stated. "Stop blaming yourself."
