"Xiao Wei suppressed her excitement and gloat so that the Bai people cannot fault her. Inwardly she felt extremely happy that Bai Mingling's face and heart will be hurt again with one arrow.

"No, Regent Bai, the woman that I, Hu Xuan, seeks to marry is the eldest Miss Bai Xiao Wei, not Miss Bai Mingling. I am grateful for Miss Bai's lifesaving grace and will spend my whole life wholeheartedly devoted to her. Only Miss Bai is in my heart," said Hu Xuan with a charismatic voice.

Xiao Wei sighed. The man is still so handsome and his aura impressive that even sitting in a wheelchair he can command the room. No wonder this silly cousin fell deeply in love at first sight with the man. She gave Hu Xuan a small encouraging smile and hastily avoided Bai Ming Ling's piercing gaze.

Just like in her previous life, she found Hu Xuan on the verge of life and death in the forest after the Bai family had cleared the bandits.

In her previous life she worried that he could be a bandit and without thinking too much she dragged him to the nearest cave to save his life. Only when she came back did she realise that she was wrong but it was too late for regrets. Due to the delayed professional treatment Hu Xuan never fully recovered the use of his left leg.

This time she still took him to the cave for treatment but had previously arranged a physician to wait for them there. The physician left before Hu Xuan woke up and she was able to take the credit fully.

Bai Mingling sat uncomfortably on the side and grimaced at Hu Xuan's words. Love at first sight  is a powerful feeling for a girl from the boudoir and the jealousy bubbling in her heart are all reflected clearly on her face.

"Young Master Hu, I am lowly, I dare not accept your proposal," said Xiao Wei with eyes filled with tears and a cowering attitude toward towards Bai Mingling. She gave off the impression that she has been bullied by the Bai family which made the young man's heart break for her.

"In this life, only Miss Bai Xiao Wei can be my wife. You are more than good enough, you are my angel, my saviour and my heart," declared Hu Xuan.

Xiao Wei smiled as tears rolled down her face beautifully. She flashed a challenging look towards Bai Mingling and felt satisfied by the vicious look on the girl's face. The more she harbours evil intentions the easier it will be for her to step by step fall into Xiao Wei's trap."

"Marriage? With whom?" asked Father with a serious expression while Mother's smile froze midway.

"We have heard that your daughter will come of age in a few months. Since my daughter in law have recounted the Young Miss Bai's bravery and her lifesaving grace, I would like to propose marriage to Miss Bai for my grandson. Hu Xuan is a promising child and will inherit his father's mighty armies and wealth in the future."

"Our daughter? No, she is too young..." started Father.

"There are no barriers to his inheritance nor desire for your daughter. I promise you, that we will treat her as our very own and Hu Xuan will never marry other women nor will he take on concubines..." continued Old Madame Hu.

"Old Madame Hu, it is not that we doubt your sincerity or that we are worried about his inheritance. Your Hu family is definitely the only family in this region that can stand on par with ours in terms of power and wealth...but..."

"In that case, there should be no issues?" interrupted Old Madame Hu.

"As I was saying, we must respectfully decline this proposal. Sorry to offend but we have agreed to keep our daughter at home and marry a 'live in' in-law."
