"Are you trying to convince me that humans are protected here in the Demon Realm and that my requests are absurd?" Jiang Meng asked. Bai Mingling smiled, deepening the dimples on each side of her cheeks, projecting an adorableness that contradicted her demonic persona. "Was I not ordered by my Lord to provide you with a place to stay and settle you in? I want to show you the truth from my perspective, so Jiang Meng, welcome to my domain!" she said. Bai Mingling raised her arms toward the sky and happily spun in a circle, her red dress flowing with the motion in an attractive swirl. Jiang Meng followed the direction of Bai Mingling's finger and asked incredulously, "Are you saying that you live here among the captured humans?"

Bai Mingling smiled and nodded, proudly pointing to a wooden structure raised behind the magnolia trees and the golden temple. The structure did not exist before but had suddenly appeared. "I happen to like keeping a close eye on my subjects, so naturally, I must live among them. Jiang Meng, follow me," she said with an excited flourish before taking flight toward the two straight rows of dazzling trees. The pure and sweet fragrance of these large white flowers intoxicated the senses and masked the pungent sulfurous odors of the Demon Realm. Jiang Meng flicked her sleeves and flew after the demoness. They landed in front of the wooden building, and Jiang Meng finally caught sight of the intricate carvings on its walls and structure. The building was meticulously crafted with an understated beauty. But Jiang Meng's skin began to crawl when she realized that the carvings depicted gruesome scenes of death and torture. The wooden beams glowed with a polished shine, their color deepening or lightening according to their owner's mood. It seemed that Bai Mingling's mood was quite good at present, as the magically imbued wooden beams shone brightly, almost appearing golden.

"Ah... I see. The Rudiment, the celestial's missing artifact, is here. Of course! This answers my questions. If it weren't for Rudiment's powers that have created safe havens for the humans trapped here, they would have perished from the beginning. But its powers are harmful to demons, so why must you live here with it?" Jiang Meng inquired.

Bai Mingling ignored her and continued inside the great hall, where rows of human soldiers and maids stood in formation, waiting silently. The rows of blue-clothed humans in uniform synchronized as they parted in the middle of the hall, dropping to the ground and bowing as Bai Mingling's fiery red dress strode past them toward her golden throne. Jiang Meng followed behind and stopped in front of the throne. She could feel the hostile gazes at her back. "Jiang Meng, from now on, you are my guest. My people will serve you until the Lord instructs otherwise. My people, this great celestial will be the key to helping us break the tyranny of her people. You must ensure that she is comfortable at all times," commanded Bai Mingling to the rows of bowed heads. A synchronized shout of obedience radiated from below as Bai Mingling nodded with an air of smugness.

"That is all, everyone is dismissed," commanded Bai Mingling.

The hundreds of humans obediently and silently withdrew, leaving two servant girls still kneeling beside Bai Mingling. They looked up at the demoness and Jiang Meng with an expectant gaze. "My Lord, we have received the order and have prepared the Moonshine Place for Celestial Meng," said one servant girl. "Moonshine room? Not bad, lead Jiang Meng there."

"Before I go, please let me see Hu Xuan. I want to see that he is safe," replied Jiang Meng.

"Hu Xuan? Who is that person?" asked Bai Mingling with an expression filled with surprise. "The man who you carried away not too long ago." Bai Mingling laughed and replied teasingly, "I carry away a lot of men. Jiang Meng, don't forget that I am a demoness."

"Bai Mingling, please, I have an arrangement with the Demon King, and I do not want to have to go back on that promise for something like this." Bai Mingling observed Jiang Meng's serious expression and shrugged with a look of mock defeat.
