I paced nervously around the bathroom as I waited for the five minutes to pass.
"Darling," Andrew's voice came as he knocked softly on the door, "are you alright?"
I opened the door and closed it not so swiftly back around me, "hey," I smiled, "you're going already?" I questioned as I adjusted his tie.
Andrew nodded and looked at me weirdly, "yeah, I have an interview in about an hour," he grasped my hands in his, "what's going on?" He asked gently.
I shook my head and kissed him quickly, "nothing," I tried to reassure him, "I'll see you later, text me if you get any idea of what you'd like to have for dinner, I'm gonna go get some groceries later."
He smiled and wrapped his arms around me, "whatever you'd like," he kissed my neck, "are you okay though? I heard you running to the bathroom tonight, but you were already back into bed before I could even get up," he caressed my hair gently.
I shrugged, "yeah, I probably just ate something bad yesterday," I smiled at him, "have a good day at work, I love you."
Andrew smiled back at me, "I love you too," he kissed my lips softly, very softly, as if afraid he would hurt me, "promise you'll call me if you feel bad?"
I smiled at his caring nature, "promise."
Andrew looked at me, seemingly unconvinced by my act, but nonetheless, he moved out of the door and made his way down the stairs.
I waited until I heard the front door close, and heaved out a breath of relief.
I opened the bathroom door once more and resumed my anxious pacing; a sharp cry coming from the baby monitor snapped me out of it, and in a second I was out of the door, into the bedroom, picking up Lynn from her crib, "hey," I shushed her gently, "it's okay, mommy's here," I moved around the room while bouncing slightly on my knees to make the baby calm down.
Lynn was slowly calming down, but the five minutes timer on my phone went off.
I cursed under my breath and rushed to turn it off, heaving a breath of relief in noticing it had not upset Lynn any further.
I made my way to the bathroom with Lynn in my arms, shushing her gently, and pressing kiss after kiss on the top of her head.
"Okay baby," I whispered to my half asleep newborn, "let's see what these say yeah?"
I took a deep breath and flipped both the tests face up; I gasped softly and brought a hand up to my mouth, "oh my god," I chuckled softly and pressed my nose in Lynn's hair, "you're gonna be a big sister," I sniffled.
Andrew and I had struggled with infertility for a long time, and it had taken about three years of negative tests and multiple miscarriages before we finally got pregnant with Lynn, so to say that this was an absolute blessing was an understatement.
